For me...it's sadnews if you were his family, or a friend, or you admired his films....

But, when I saw the news it put a smile on my face. He wasn't particularly on my' Death Wish' list, but I thought he was an out of touch, up his own arse snob...

He had a good innings at 77, & to be honest, if celebrities have to die, I'd rather it's the ones I don't like.

I don't know much about him TBH, that 'calm down dear' TV ad is what comes to mind for me.

Oh dear Mishi. Death Wish. Thanks for reminding us. To be fair the original was good (did MW direct that), but the sequels were just terrible. The 3rd one sticks out. Not just the terrible film, but the incidental music as well. Couldn't believe Jimmy Page was behind that as well. Went down like a, well, zeppelin I suppose.

Last match:
Monday 17th October 2016
Aveley 1-1 Phoenix Sports (Isthmian League Division 1 North)

Next scheduled match:
Tuesday 18th October 2016
Burnham Ramblers v Haringey & Waltham (Essex Senior League)

Winner would probably have been more upset to think his demise prompted indifference rather than a smile.

The reaction on here to the news, actually suckered me in to feeding his vanity (wherever he's ended up) and reading his obituary.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/.../Michael-Winner.html

part of which mentions film critic Barry Norman who had once been his boss and who..............
"considered him entertaining enough, “but he can also be rude and a bully, as if it amuses him to confront the world in the guise of a self-made shit ... Perhaps what gripes him is that he wanted to be a great director and never became one.”

Shocked Ouch!

This tweet made me laugh - "Michael Winner. Say what you like, he called Littlejohn an arsehole. May he RIP."
