Very lively venue, good location and good range of beers combined with the Nicholson's menu makes it a winner. Actually talking of Nicholson's pubs... Tongue

I walked past this very establishment yesterday evening.A shame from a historical perspective that it is just called The Doggetts these days rather than The Doggetts Coat & Badge.I preferred the nearby Founders Arms when i could still afford a pint in Londinium.

I was at Brunton Park on Dec 8th for their match against Sheffield Utd & can confirm Carlisle Utd's shirt sponsors are still Stobart.

All Channel 5 seemed to have on over the festive period was Eddie Stobart(R.I.P):Trucks & Trailers.Didn't watch any of them

Can't be arsed to Google but I always thought the full name
was emblazoned on the front as you come across Blackfriars Bridge?

I'd love to be a pound behind the owner of the Founders...
shockingly expensive just to get the tourists in but considering
its placement, then fair dos...

I could often be found slumped in and around the Stamfords
Wine Bar just around the corner from the Doggets but
I've been told that Bill the owner sold up.

Totty paradise back in the day.

Another to close was just further down going south, past the lights...

Name escapes me pro temps but can often recall leaving there
when the birds were singing - both varieties.

...because it appeals to the masses who would struggle to find their
way back home following a day out of town -
and they are cheap too.

I noticed on one day over Christmas on ITV that their internal
ratings war was won by....the news.

People knock the Beeb for reasons various but they do come up
with some rather good dramas.

Same with Sky, what does that have to offer for your buck?
Sports and few film re-runs (new ones cost extra)
all for a princely sum which is not far
short of 80 sovs a month...not alot of bang then..

Re: [DonQuixote] Eddie Stobart [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Not quite true. Sky shows an awful lot of high quality US produced Drama's of the sort the Terrestrial channells used to show, including such things as "House" which is quite excellent. My suspicion is that Sky probably outbids our Commercial channells for a lot of these, when they aren't produced by Sky affiliates in the first place. I know "lost" and "Heroes" were both subject to a Sky v Terrestrial bidding war

I do think their Movie Channells are a rip off though. They are so desperate to flog them PPV that they seem to take years to get to free to air, by which time if you really wanted to see it you would have bought the DVD at a reduced price.

Unfortunately ITV in particular is now in such a hole it will be hard to dig itself out. If they only show reality TV they aren't going to attract big advertising revenue and thus be unable to produce or buy quality Drama.

They're also on the drivers door. I know this because when the kids were young and we were on a long journey we used to get them to look out for them as it would break the monotony of, "Are we nearly there yet?" Unsure

Not at all. Its a very interesting and informative programme about how your household goods and products are made and delivered, that also happens to focus on the drivers that transport the products as well.
