a) 34 mine workers shot to death by SA police
b) 270 of their mates arrested for being complicit to murder
but no police arrested.

Only the colour has been changed to protect the innocent.

You have hit a very raw nerve. Having lived and worked in South Africa in the 1980s what I saw in my travels around the country was very different to what was being shown on television and printed in newspapers over here. I found that by travelling with American tv news crews I got a much better balanced overview than by being with the BBC boys who only had one agenda.

But surely if the police were as alleged charged at with machetes, then surely its right for them to defend themselves?

Charged at Tom ?
Depends whether you watch the BBC or CNN.

''Thousands of machete-armed workers were striking for higher wages in the Lonmin mine in Marikana, South Africa, when police opened fire on their gathering. Earlier, two police officers had been hacked to death.''
That is one press cutting of many , many conflicting !

Are you claiming the BBC didn't report this?

I'm not Paul , see what Rupert says.
But the hack journalism in the opening post leaves a lot to be desired, half a story aimed to provoke.
Morning Don.
