DEAR PEOPLE OF ESSEX,
THIS IS A LION (PANTHERA LEO):

THEY'RE ABOUT 4FT HIGH AND 7FT LONG AND WEIGH UP TO 250KG.

THIS IS A DOMESTIC CAT (FELIS CATUS):

THEY'RE LESS THAN 12 INCHES HIGH AND ABOUT 18 INCHES LONG. THEY WEIGH ABOUT 5KG

I'm alive and well and no I didn't see the alleged lion. The 'incident' happened in an area about a 20 minute walk from my house and it occurred to me that while all these people were making a fuss about one lion they are more likely to come to grief by way of an encounter with a far more prevalent predator commonly known as chavs.

It should also be pointed out that it was holidaymakers who were making the majority of the fuss and they may not necessarily be from Essex.

Must have been east Londoners then. They're the only people who consider going to Essex a holiday. Wink

You'd be surprised VP. This summer there seems to be a sizeable increase in the number of yorkshire accents in the area. Not to mention the large welsh contingent that swamped the town back in May. Unsure

I realise parts of South-east London might not be to everyone's taste, but give me my manor any day over east London & Essex. If there a more depressing sight than out of the window for half an hour, once a train has pulled out of Fenchurch Street?

'twas a cool Tuesday evening in November of 86 when I was last there Gareth and from what I remember it was quite a nice place , my comment on innocence is aimed at baseing a view of Essex on a visit to Wivenhoe.
There are many nice places in Essex and of course there are shit holes like Romford , it is wrong to generalise and Essex is like anywhere else in England , good and bad.
It says a lot for the county when their women are classed a bimbos and by all accounts amongst the men there are lots of chavs . Not for me Gareth I will settle for my northern hovel and my medium sized pussy cat.

Romford ok???? I live there but still wouldn't
venture into town after dark...lots of nubile
young women in very short skirts...

Best Essex town with a reasonable sized team
has to be Saffron Walden.

Nothing nicer than taking in a night game there early/late season,
when the campanologists are getting their rocks off in the
local cathedral that overlooks the ground.

And the village itself is well worth a look see...
Oh, nearly forgot..great pubs too..

Ok, your pussy is hardly the size of the phantom lion of St. Osyth, but on a par with your average domestic cat I'd hardly call it medium sized unless cats in Crewe are significantly larger than the average tabby in Essex. Cool
