According to a posting on facebook, if Yorkshire was an independent country, we would be 10th in the overall medal table, ahead of the likes of Japan, Australia and Spain.

Go, Team Yorkshire

I've had this from a Yorkshire friend all day. He only stopped when I pointed out that over half of them were in team events in which the rest of the team weren't from Yorkshire.

Nicola Adams from Leeds is in the final of the women's boxing flyweight competition. Luke Campbell from Hull is guaranteed at least a bronze medal in the mens bantemweight competition.

Try this.

NB The part of Humberside DC shown north of the Humber is now the new (well, 1996) East Riding of Yorkshire DC.

No. It's the County boundary when Yorkshire had three RIDINGS, before the administative counties were set up.

Why is there always a spoilsport? Its still a fantastic achievement for such a localised area, can we not just celebrate that?

Anyway, RE the county divisions in Yorkshire, its quite strange as if you travel East or even South East from Pontefract, you end up in....NORTH Yorkshire!
