What would you nominate as the worst ground you've been to considering it was big and the best considering how small it was?

Old Wembley Stadium an obvious nominee in the first category so I'll get that out of the way. Underwhelmed by new grounds at Reading, Derby and Leicester. But I think I'll go for Ashton Gate and incredibly uncomfortable seats in that category of grounds I've visited, and can't imagine a trip to the Reynolds Arena being anything other than a disappointment.

In the small-but-perfectly-formed category: I always liked Tunbridge Wells, a surprisingly good terrace behind the near goal, long stand down one side, other two sides you're almost standing in the woods. I seem to remember Okehampton Argyle being very scenic at the nowt-but-railings level but I'm sure people will have better examples!

Category 1 - Old Trafford. Up in the clouds when I went for an England game. It looked like a lego stadium.

Category 2 - Penrhiwceiber Rangers. Enclosed behind houses and railway lines with terrace on one side and cover on the other with stunning hills around for a spectacular view.

Anyone with any queries or need any help planning a trip to Fareham Town FC - give me a bell.

Any pre 1979-80 Fareham Town programmes wanted plus any further memorabilia/press etc.

In UK, Goodison Park must rank highly in Category 1, at least in terms of comfort and facilities, though as something of a relic by Premier League standards it does deserve some affection.

Plenty of superb small grounds around but for me the best in Category 2 is Treharris Athletic Western - photos at http://www.flickr.com/...s/72157624464940101/.

Worst big ground: Elland Road. I went there for the rugby league World Club Challenge match four years ago. Seats in the big stand (The Don Revie Stand?) were incredibly tight and unconfortable with inadequate leg room, even though I was on the end of a row next to the aisle and the bloke sitting next to me was tiny. Also the ground is in a grotty area that's awkward to reach from the city centre. (I found Old Trafford very good if rather functional.)

Best small ground: depends on how small is "small". It was big by Isthmian League standards but Enfield's old Southbury Road was a favourite of mine. Neat and tidy with cover on all four sides in the says when that was unusual in non-league football. I also like Tooting; great sightlines from the main stand plus good elevation under cover behind each goal. Going down to county league level, I recall Hassocks as being especially scenic and enjoyable to visit, while Burnham Ramblers has a good stand & covered terracing for a club that's never played higher than the county league.

Worst big ground - the Old Wembley by a distance. The only decent views once it became all seater, were from the middle of the upper tier (most of which on one side was taken up by the press box) or the hospitality boxes under the roof. Facilities were also poor and as for the prices of food & drink, you needed a mortgage (and I suspect you still do at the new version).
Best small ground – Hammer United (West Sussex League Div 3 south). In the middle of a wood, partly railed, nice clubhouse, excellent sight lines from the grass bank opposite and even a (very) small stand on top of the bank.
Truly a hidden gem at the time of my visit, back in April 2005.
