Dan Cleverley’s testimonial Can't Post or Reply Privately

Testimonial First Fans View of Rovers The first chance for Nick Bunyard’s new signings to perform on home soil comes on Wednesday, 1st August in Dan.... Share Dan Cleverley’s testimonial against Bristol Rovers who have promised to bring a strong squad for Paulton Rovers' club captain, who began his career with The Pirates.
Cleverley joined the Eo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West club as an 18-year-old in February 2004, scoring a hat-trick on his debut at home to Bideford and making over 300 appearances.

He now enters his ninth season as a Paulton player and has served as club captain over the last three years, including leading out the side against Norwich City in the FA Cup.

Cleverley`s testimonial is long overdue and normally occurs after six seasons in non-League football.

Rovers officials hope his tremendous loyalty will be rewarded by a bumper crowd, no doubt boosted by a large Gas following, together with many ex Paulton players who have graced Winterfield Road with Cleverley and numerous opponents.

Admission price is £6 with concessions £3.

Programmes can be pre-ordered by emailing the programme editor Peter Lord at lord_p1@sky.com and sending a sufficiently stamped addressed envelope plus £2 to cover charges. They can be collected by arrangements at the club the night (Tuesday) before the match or sent to collectors after the game.

Cleverley has decided he will make a donation from any proceeds to a spinal injuries charity.

I always remember him playing for Bath City away at Weymouth when he scored an absolute screamer, took it on the volley just like Van Basten's famous goal. Cleverley's was actually better.

Have never heard that before. Is it common knowledge?

There doesn't seem to be any "rule" on this. I think it varies from area to area and even club to club.

In my playing days moving from club to club was almost ever done only if you weren't in favour and went to get a game. Seemingly now players move almost annually.

Ever year clubs have come knocking on Dan's door with lucrative offers and the opportunity to play at a higher level but he has remained very loyal and whatever the unwritten rule night say deserves his opportunity on Wednesday and hopefully will get the support from all local fans he richly deserves.
