Back in May noting that RyanAir Flights Stansted to Oslo Rygge were only £25.48 return (plus £26.50 fees & charges) together with the promise of a reasonable assortment of Games, the usual suspects took the decision. A reasonably cheap Hostel next to a big Hotel of the same name at only £68 for a twin bed en-suite looked fine, although surprised on arrival to be charged £5.50 each for bedding and £2.20 to hire a Towel.

Saturday proved difficult for double's and requiring a Top Division Game for the second, decided on an unusual Venue for the first, an indoor Arena used by Valerenga Ladies who play in their Top Division.

Location Vall Hall near to the Blisset Stadium, Adm £5.50 No Prog.. Visitors Arna-Bjorner
First indoor Arena for me with obviously artificial grass which proved an excellent surface and producing a skilful Game, a surprise to some. Tip up Seats on one side with limited Catering. The Visitors leading by 3 at Half Time added a further two to finish 0-5. Onward to

Eliteserien (Top Division)
STROMSGODSET vs Honefoss @ Marienlyset Stadium (in Drammen)
Adm £28.50 Prog £3.30 usual Standard Facilities

A drive or 45mins, free Parking outside the Ground attracting 5,564, about a third full, Seats along the Side opposite the Main with just one uncovered Terrace behind the Goal, which we were told was the same price ! Top of the Table Strom started well and looked the better side, scoring twice in the first. Added a further two to finish at 4-0, a decent Game on proper grass.

Late start Sunday, a Micro Brewery just 150 yards from the Hotel, rated by drunken duncan the Beer Moster as the best in Oslo, was visited early Sat Eve. followed by a small Crawl and fodder before returning for the final session. Five of their own plus other Micro's priced on average at £8 a Pint, closed at 03.00 although sensibly not all stayed the distance !

Following our Walk round the Harbour we made our way to Lillestrom for

Division 3 Avdeling 2 (level 4)
LILLESTROM ll vs Honefoss ll @ LSK - Hallen
Free Admission, no Prog or Catering

Another indoor Arena with artificial grass, part of the Training Complex just over the Railway Line from the Main Stadium. Wooden Terrace on one side, used for Seating and once again a good playing surface which suited the Reserve Sides of the two Eliteserien Clubs, mostly seasoned Pro's with just a couple of under 20's, which provided a good quality Game, certainly of better ability than "level 4". The Visitors scored their only Goal early on, a disputed Penalty equaliser prior to h/t. Two further Home Goals followed, the clincher being another Penalty.

Drove on towards the Airport stopping at

Division 2 Adveling 1
KFUM vs Kjelsas @ KFUM Oslo
Adm £11 Prog Free small decent Catering Kiosk

Large Complex high above Oslo comprising numerous Pitch's, the principle of Artificial Grass situate outside the Changing Rooms, a Wooden Terrace along one side but unfortunately No Cover whatsoever, which proved almost fatal as around 60%of the Game was played in torrential Rain, three of us spendng some time watching from the Car to avoid. Considering the sodden Pitch it proved both entertaining and of good quality, even at 1-1 at h/t KFUM looked to have won it with two further Goals, however Kjelsas pulled a Goal back late on and then in the 8th minute of added time snatched the equaliser to finish 3-3.

Back to the Airport in 40 minutes to return the Hire Car (£160 cost in total for the 2 days), confirming Norway is an expensive place to Visit !

Where was the Micro Brewery? i tried very hard to get gen on them in Oslo but the only one I could find had a 3 years out of date website. I did randomly find one in the city centre later, but would appreciate details of the one you found!

The Brewery is Schouskjellern, address Trondheimsvien 2, it features on "Ale Hunt Oslo".

Our Hostel/Hotel was the Anker, Storgata 55, from where looking North the principle Building can be seen, however this is more for Food, the Micro Brewery Bar is the Building behind.
