I'll probably do just the Friday and Saturday. Will programmes be available on the day or is it wise to pre order them? Also can anyone recommend a nice b and b or hotel in the Newtown area our in the country nearby?

Programmes will be available on the day. Only people with full hop match tickets can get their programmes reserved, there will be plenty of progs though.

As for a B&B go on google earth and you will find loads in the area.

Noted that Berriew is 6pm saturday
Very likely that St Harmon (Mid Wales South) will again play at that kick off time

Are there any plans for hoppers to meet up for drinks on the Friday night?

Renditions of some of Ivor Biggun's classics in the early hours would be favourite, based on past experience. KYM tends to do the "pants on head" party-piece when the mood takes him and DavyC will be educating local farmers about the Manchester music scene whether they asked or not. Tongue

My sympathies to the four hoppers involved in the multi-car crash on the M1 on Thursday on their way to the Hop. It sounded quite horrendous.

Just to add that the hop ran as smooth as it could. Each club did their bit with the welcomes and they all laid on a great spread for everyone. Food was different at each venue on the day which at least it wasn't burgers all the time. They obviously took the advice of Chris and Laurence on board.

Decent Fish & chip shops in Hay on Wye and Machynlleth.

Apart from Knighton & Aberaeron's new ground, that completes the Mid Wales League for now. Looking forward to the Welsh Alliance next August and hopefully dry weather.

Agreed, everything appeared to go swimmingly and the mini food festival across the weekend was excellent. Thoroughly excellent weekend of football and entertainment, much of which occurred on the touchlines.

A small smattering of photos, complete with strange hoppers if zoomed in upon, can be viewed here:

Thanks to Chris and Laurence - your efforts were rewarded with, in my opinion, the best hop yet.

I'm surprised the crash has been overlooked, especially if enthusiasts of our own hobby were involved. Hope they are ok, whoever they are...

Yes I was the driver (or crasher in this case). Thankfully we all walked away with only bruises from the seat belts.
Sadly my much loved Astra with 234,000 miles on the clock was less fortunate and has now gone to the scrapyard.
Spoiled the weekend but could have been much worse.

yes, best wishes to all..

Reminds me of the very first NL hop when Burgess Hill Bee, myself and son had my car nicked from the Washington services on the thursday night.
We missed the first two games on the friday as we were taken to identify the remains of the car in Washington.
Upon reporting in at Murton for the evening game we were kindly offered rides on the coach for the weekend, and even more generously the hoppers present arranged a whip round and collected well over £100 to cover our train fares back from Durham to Crawley.
If I failed to thank anyone in person who contributed at the time and is reading this 20 odd years later...Much appreciated and never forgotten

I'm sure there are other instances of hoppers showing great generosity over the years...
mike

NB BHB made up for it by winning the first (and only) hopping championship..(he still has the cup proudly displayed)...memories...

nb: i will only post re new grounds when BurgessHill Bee doesn't..(since he's far better informed than I)

Glad all went well on the weekend and was saddened to hear of the accident and glad all are well.

I remember Henfield Bee and his lad at the NL Hop and remember adding a few coppers towards their plight at the time. But there is no need for any thanks, as we are a community that does pull together in time of need
