They could get French Connection to sponsor them, just to confuse things.

They've merged with a youth club that have been called Kent Football United since 2010.

Usually, when youth clubs merge with senior clubs, the senior club keeps it's name. For some reason this hasn't happened this time.

Usually yes - but strangely three other mergers that have happened this summer (all involving Step 7 clubs) have all taken on the name of the lower placed club.

Up here in the grim north its often the other way round.....Ardsley Celtic's merger with junior club Tingley Athletic has seen the senior team take the juniour club's name for example....

Very true story this: When Newcastle Poly decided to go all posh after gaing Uni status in the early 90s, they changed their name to Central University of Newcastle upon Tyne and then spent spent thousands updating letterheads etc. It was only at the press launch that they noticed their horrific mistake. Hence thousands of £s worth of printed stock binned and another change of name to Newcastle Northumbria

They were run by the same people, so it's not really a merger. It was a total soap opera last season, multiple managers, kit repossessions on matchday, forum bile, etc.

I find this a strange name change as they are barely in Kent in the first place, I went to see them play in the first game in the Kent Invicta League last August and they play at VCD Athletic's ground (well they did) which is a good place.

The club seemed to be in a state of flux throughout last season and the name change is bizarre.

I was born in the next street and it says Crayford Kent on my birth certificate.
All they have done is incorporated the EDTFC senior side into the youth set up that the chairmans son runs.
Hense the unusual name for a senior football club.

Personally I find the KUFC name a little what? Annoying? Unpleasant? Can not really pin it down.

Their original name (2010-2011), 'Kent Elite FC' is much preferable, if a little arrogant sounding too. However, they were forced to alter it for legal reasons, presumably the name already having been registered by another party, and their badge still retains the KEFC initials.

Ut temporibus est cum diabolus accipit renes

Still the original Paddy MacNab.

Yes I know technically it is in Kent, I live in Gravesend for year's now I technically live in Greenwich Borough as the part of Thamesmead I live under that, well other areas over towards Abbey Wood come under Bexley which is in Kent. The name would just seem to emcompass the whole county well in reality it will not.

My birth certificate says Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

Aside from agreeing with Oxford Stones name suggestion, this is grandiose behaviour from a Chairman, who according to some news reports last season, couldn't run a Step 6 side. Changing their name to please his own son has hardly given the club a chance to retain an identity. Unfortunately the wise money will be on it all ending in tears.

Talking of name changes, Eversley in the Combined Counties div 1 have merged with a junior side and are now known as Eversley & California fc.

Talking of name changes I do not see the reason for even adding Town, City or United except when there is more than one club with the place name such as Man Utd or Man City. Chester even got rid of the "City" part of their name a couple of years ago and it sounds so much better. I mean, what is the point of adding the likes of "United" when there hasn't been any sort of uniting of anything.

Um you make it sound like they had a choice, when in reality they were forced into the name change and they were more than likely very unhappy at losing the City suffix! If I shot you in the arm would you say "Yeah well I wanted to be shot - my arm looks so much nicer with this gaping bullet wound" just to save face!

And - there is another club with Chster in its name - a little known Step 7 side called Chester Nomads!
