Inevitably by mentioning that I used to tick them years ago in the Coffee Thread below I have set the ball rolling.

Did anyone else tick them?

I got up to 148 by the time the chain got diluted by mergers and the like. I don't think they are that good now, often empty and usually overpriced. Though there are a few I still frequent, the one at Warminster seems pretty consistent.

They were very useful if in unfamiliar territory and wanting to eat at times when Pubs weren't doing food.

Any memories of good and bad ones? Also are there any left that look original, with lots of white wood like an American Diner and red and white awnings? There was one near Derby like that until recently.

Other Chains I can remember are Happy (Crappy) Eater, Kellys Kitchen, and wasn't there an "AJ" Diner Chain for a while too?

All the Little Chefs in the main Cotswolds area have i think gone, although there may still be one at Evesham. Theres a big one still at Cirencester though.

Stow is a Majestic Wine Warehouse now.

To be honest its in part scandalous as thats a main trunk road and I have often been forced to go a different way home from the Midlands as since they all closed theres nowhere to take a break and get food. They were after all designated as Services, so now theres no Services on those roads....

There used to be a good chippy in Stow but last time I went there it had gone. I bet a lot of locals and tourists used those Cotswold ones. The Stow one was always packed.

What do you class as a northern breakfast?
