Daft Fines and Punishments Can't Post or Reply Privately

Just been reading about Nicklas Bendtner getting fined for wearing sponsered keks, but €100,000 is a bit harsh, even if Paddy Power are going to pay it...

Can anybody think of other amusing or harsh punishments, 2 that springs to my mind was Robbie Savage getting a 10k fine for crapping in a Refs toilet amd Gazza getting yellow carded for yellow carding the referee

Oh yeah, I remember that, thought it was hilarious, didn't he also start taking his kit off and throw his shirt into the crowd

All a bit OTT, do they really think Paddy Power have made a fortune in extra bets just because some player flashed his pants Crazy

I happened to see today in a Danish newspaper that someone within the advertising business had estimated the publicity Paddy Power has gained is worth around £1,500,000. Of course most of that publicity has come because the fine and suspension were handed out. If UEFA had done nothing, few people would have noticed anything.

The point of the fine is to discourage further such incidents. I actually sympathise with UEFA on this. If you're going to sell advertising you need to make sure that those who put their money into the event are not undermined by someone like Bendtner. I suspect we'll see more of this future if the £80k that Bendtner was fined earned Paddy Power £1.5m worth od advertising. They could pay him double the fine and still get 10 times that in advertising.

I think I read that PP are paying his fine...it may have
been a cheap advertising ploy all along, as you say, how
much would they have had to shell out for said advert at
such a high profile tournament?
Cheap at half the price...

One thing is the fine Bendtner incurred much more serious is the one match ban that, if upheld, will mean he misses Denmark's opening WC qualifier against the Czech Republic.

Another stupid action by Bendtner.
