Rutherglen Glencairn 0 Shotts Bon Accord 0 (Stagecoach Super league West div 1) att 350 est - admission £5 prog £1 - large tea 50p

23 games since the 21st April have taken their toll and a leg weary Shotts were denied the championship last night.
The home team created the better chances for the first hour with the visitors offering little. Then for about 20 mins it became frenetic with all the action in the Rutherglen box..but a terrific reaction save from the Glencairn goalie knocked the stuffing out of BA and by the last 10 mins the team (if not their vociferous fans) seemed to accept their fate.

Covered terracing and floodlights at the Clyde Gateway stadium and I got there before the Shotts supporters coach arrived to nab one of the last progs on offer..

New grounds this season: 62 Total grounds 1177

nb: i will only post re new grounds when BurgessHill Bee doesn't..(since he's far better informed than I)

Also at Rutherglen last night to see Shotts fall short of the title on goal difference.Needing two points from their last two games at the start of the week you'd have put money on them completing the job.The Rutherglen keeper had a good game and their forwards were a threat on the break. Also got a programme...learnt my lesson from Monday at Thorniewood to get there before the coach arrives and for £1 not a bad effort.A very wet second half as the heavens opened...unlike the Glencairn defence. At the end of the game the goalposts were derigged and the dugouts wheeled away for storage till next season.

So Many Grounds...so little time!!

Renfrew 1 Pollok 1 (HT 0-0) Aggregate 1-5
@ Western Park, Renfrew
West Junior Super League Play-off 2nd Leg
Kick off 7.30pm
Admission £5
Programme £1
Crowd 300 ish

The end of season Junior fixtures have fallen well for me and this was another previously unvisited ground. Western Park is certainly full of character and includes a burnt out social club, large cover behind one end and overgrown grass bankings. Depsite losing the first leg 4-0 there was a decent crowd which included the home sides Ultras who were great entertainment. By all accounts the first leg scoreline was very harsh and Renfrew had enough chances tonight to have at least given Pollok a fright. In the end Pollok were pegged back to 1-1 after they had taken a second half lead and they held on to retain their place in the top flight. A good wee programme on sale for only £1.
