MFA 2012/13 Can't Post or Reply Privately

Anyone got any idea when the league constitution will be announced?

And question two is what's your educated guess at the leavers and arrivals?

Will it be Gornal Athletic, Continental Star and Stourport joining; with Atherstone & Willenhall relegated and we know Gresley are promoted.

Should be another close one next year. I'm going to try and tick as many as I can next season. Obviously my first port of call may well be Loughborough Uni's new ground as it is roughly 10-15 minutes from my Uni halls next year!

Last new ground (74): City Ground, Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield Town 19/02/2013
Last game (329): Stourbridge v Cambridge City 06/04/2013

Stourboy's Pre-Season Plan:
Tue 9 July: Christchurch v AFC Bournemouth
Sat 27 July: Evesham United v Stourbridge

Thanks everyone. Promises to be a great league. Got just under half of the league to complete (assuming the above teams join and leave) so I've got some ticking to do this season :)

Haven't heard anything to the contrary that it won't be Rushall again. But I stand to be corrected on that one.

Ellesmere Ranges are not everyones cup of tea in the MFA simply down to location(they have every right to be there being ex w mids leage )but shifting moving shepshed and quorn into the UCL doesnt seem right(yep i know this has been covered on another thread)any thoughts on it dynamo?

Got to agree it seems a bit harsh on both Shepshed and Quorn to be moved into the UCL when teams like Loughborough Uni and to a lesser extent Kirby Muxloe and Heather St Johns are kept in the MFA. Also from my point of view it would seem more logical to move Dunkirk to the NCEL, especially with with Long Eaton already being in there. Maybe the FA/leagues don't want to move teams and would rather keep them within the league they already play at. Ellesmere's a strange one as they are out on a limb within the MFA, but i would rather see them in the NWCL as teams like Alsager, Stone Dominoes and newly promoted Norton United.

NWCFL also includes Silsden and Barnoldswick plus Holker in the level below. Adding Shropshire would be crazy. Reducing the excessive travel there by losing the south Cheshire / Staffordshire sides would be much more sensible...

I think you're right about the FA not moving teams, that seems to have been a general FA policy

I think that the whole of Leicestershire should eventually end up in the UCL a league that always seems to be struggling for clubs, lets face it MK or Bedford to Leicestershire is not a massive distance in step 5 terms while Northampton is almost on the "doorstep". This would mean the Midland Alliance (and it's feeders) could take all of Stafordshire, Shropshire and even the likes of Alsager which though in Cheshire is only a mile or two across the border. This of course would reduce the travelling / footprint of the NWC

Further to that - It could allow the Hellenic footprint to slip a little northwards and perhaps westwards too. Define its southern boundary as north of the A419 (Gloucester to Swindon), via the M4 as far east as the A34 and tracing northward to include Oxford and environs, then following the M40/M42 to the M5 /M42 junction and due west thereafter.

The Western & Wessex leagues would remain South of the HL's new southern boundary, while the SSML and maybe CCL could take over the Hellenic's eastern membership. That would free more teams to bulk the UCL & Essex League + maybe facilitate some CCL teams to cross the border into the Kent League.

The MFA and its feeders would then drift northward, perhaps as far as the Cheshire border as envisaged in a previous comment.

If the FA had started their (re)building of the pyramid at the bottom (i.e the first step above County FA-organised leagues) this sort of sensible county grouping would have flowed naturally.

Of course, in their infinite wisdom, the FA decided that if you want to build a pyramid you start at the top. Good job they weren't organsing things in ancient Egypt Crazy.

At the same time, instances such as last year when the MFA had a club fold which saved it running an uneven number helped out for sure. Still a bit confused by the decision to move Shepshed & Quorn to the UCL & not westfields/ellesmere or Dunkirk into other divisions, with Heather, Loughborough, Kirby Muxloe & the likes all being so close to S & Q it's a weird move for me. If for example we get relegated next season, we'd end up not playing teams who we've had rivalry with for a long time in Shepsheds case & are not much more than within realistic walking distance (You wouldn't do it but you could if you had time)

Seems a strange decision to have us travelling past MFA clubs to get to away games in the UCL. I can understand south leics area clubs like Oadby going that way but Shepshed and Quorn seems strange . We can get to Sheffield Away in little more than the time it will take us to get to Leicestershire club Harborough. All we can do is embrace the league we are in , look forward to a host of new trips and hopefully have a more successful season. The main problem we have now is finding a whole new team due to most of our players coming from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and a fewfrom north Leics .

Logic would have been to move the south Leicestershire clubs to the UCL first, but this is the F.A. we are talking about. Still don't see why the Midland Alliance needs to go from Dunkirk to Westfields. Surely the Midlands and it's hinterland could be better sorted and served than it currently is at step 5.

another senior moment for me i think!i actually went to biddulph on the 15th jan in the last season before they finished it was against kirby and i spoke to people about the predicament they were in,they were not happy because the ground was going to be still in use by other teams but owners didnt want "semi pro" football being played on it
most noteable thing about the day was the car park and knypersley clubhouse being absolutely packed with stoke fans awaiting there coaches for a HOME game!!

i also went to friar lane that seasonBlush
