West Didsbury and Chorlton Can't Post or Reply Privately

The NWCFL is reporting that "The FA has also confirmed that the application from West Didsbury and Chorlton to be promoted from Step 7 has been approved. The Manchester League club will therefore be presented to our member clubs for election to the NWCFL Division One in season 2012-13 at the League AGM in June."

West Didsbury and Chorlton finished seventh in the Manchester League this season and the NWCFL reported the following last December:-

"In order to be promoted, clubs must finish in ‘top’ position in their Step 7 league. If the club finishing in top position does not wish to be promoted or fails to meet the entry criteria, then the club finishing in 2nd position will be eligible for promotion. If the club in 2nd position does not seek promotion or fails to meet the entry criteria, then clubs down to 5th position may be considered for promotion, provided that they meet the appropriate entry criteria. This was agreed by the Leagues Committee at a recent meeting and will be incorporated into the Regulations.
Clubs finishing below 5th position will not be considered for promotion and ONLY ONE club will be considered from each league."

I don't see how they can promote them if they stick to these rules but it would be good to see some new blood in the NWCFL 1st Division.

The NWCL has used the word 'also' - am I misinterpreting that word's use here - or is there another promotee from Step 7 in the this league? I can't for the life of me think who that would be though!

As the NWCL commentary is only referring to what the FA were saying, rather than self-quoting, I imagine the 'also' references to 'something else within the FA's purview', not within that of the NWCL itself necessarily. As such, it could easily be describing events in any of the other 13 step 5 divisions.

The wording there suggests that the FA have given another instruction/permission. Could be connected with Woodley?

Indeed

.The FA has now confirmed the position regarding the promotion and relegation of clubs from and to the NWCFL.
Woodley Sports have been relegated from the Evo-Stik League First Division North and will play in the NWCFL Premier Division in season 2012-13. They will take the place of Ramsbottom United, who are promoted to the Evo-Stik League First Division North.
The FA has also confirmed that the application from West Didsbury and Chorlton to be promoted from Step 7 has been approved. The Manchester League club will therefore be presented to our member clubs for election to the NWCFL Division One in season 2012-13 at the League AGM in June.

They wouldn't be promoted. They would be elected into the League, where vacancies still exist after all promotions have been dealt with.

The election process at AGM should also involve the new Widnes team that was being discussed a couple of months back.

As I presume New Mills and Ashton Athletic were.

I stand corrected Ashton Athletic were elected after finishing 4th in the Manchester League Division 1, AFC Darwen were elected after finishing 8th in the West Lancs Premier Division and New Mills were elected after finishing 14th in the Manchester Premier Division. Looks like West Didsbury and Chorlton have every chance. As far as I'm aware Widnes Town's application was withdrawn.

If they have applied it'll be as Widnes FC - there is an existing youth club called Widnes Town, who have applied to have a senior team in the West Cheshire League next season.
