Strange. Real Whaddon have had a year at Priors Farm, which I am told is quite pleasant, and are now moving back to Clyde Crescent which is a real dogsh*t special. A real treat in store for all who haven't yet been.

However, Molders, I am still complete in the GNSL.

Just Google Earthed Clyde Crescent and I need it, so three (Whaddon, Cheltenham CS and Abbeymead) and maybe Brockworth who appear to be on different pitch at rugby club for me.

Tim - can you go through the Brockworth thing again - I can't decide if I've done their ground or not ?

The many homes of Brockworth Albion (I think):

Brockworth Rugby Club, Mill Lane, Brockworth - here in county league days and now back again. I've seen them on a railed pitch that is adjacent to and parallel with Mill Lane. Molders reckons he saw them on a different pitch in the olden days.

Mill Lane Playing Fields, Brockworth - 'their spiritual home' according to their manager last season. Two unrailed pitches about 200 yards from the rugby club on the opposite side of the road. No changing rooms.

Woodlawns Country Club, Brockworth - posh. I don't think they were here long - I only saw a friendly.

Parton Road, Churchdown - council pitch complex in the middle of nowhere by the A40 - real dogsh*t special.

Imjin Barracks, Innsworth - never went.

Just looked at my friend Google Earth, I went in 1996 in the Glos Co and the pitch was at the far side of the complex nearest to the Brockworth bypass. If you use the time line thing on Google Earth the pitch Tim saw them play on in recent times near Mill Lane was the Rugby pitch in 1999, the football pitch I saw them on is in situ next to it towards the Brockworth bypass but minus it's rail. If you get in your Delorean and come back to the future said pitch is now covered by two Rugger courts which are at right angles to said 1996 pitch.

I have also done another ground in Mill Lane that of the late ICI Fibres, which I don't think is the other Brockworth ground in Mill Lane, just to confuse everyone.

So did ICI Fibres play on the pitch opposite the Rugby Club, or further to the east, in what is now the school/community college thing? Brockworth Thirds are rumoured to play there, but I haven't been able to prove it as yet....

Edit: I thought ICI's ground was in Green Street. Is it the same ground as Woodlawns....?

Help needed. Karldax and Turbine View, where are you?

ICI Fibres was in Green Street (1984), behind a factory?
Brockworth (1999) - this was the Rugby ground, but my memory suggests they shared a clubhouse, but not pitches.

18th April 2002 ICI Fibres 1 Longlevens 2 GNSL2 Att 64 @ Woodlawns Country Club, Green St

20th April 1996 Brockworth 0 Cadbury Heath 1 Glos Co Att 33 @ Rugby Club

Just looked at my pictures, turn left out of the dressing rooms towards the Brockworth bypass, the pitch is tight up against the boundary of the complex with the far touchline running parallel with the bypass which would be 90 or so yards beyond the touchline. If you stood on the halfway line on the farside you would be about 150 yards from the dressing rooms. I also have a picture from from the later pitch outside the clubhouse. The day I went there was a rugger game on and that pitch ran parallel with the football pitch but next to Mill Lane, where it appears the football pitch now is.

In those days they were Brockworth AFC not Brockworth Albion who were only formed in 2002-2003 after Brockworth AFC and ICI Fibres amalgamated. The merger was voted and agreed upon during the early season of 2001-02 which also enabled the newly formed 1st XI to use the superior Woodlawn’s club facilities (formally ICI club) - last bit from Brockworth Albion website.

Looks like club are trying for planning permission for dressing elsewhere, found this while Goggling, notes from Brockworth Parish Council - To consider and decide on the request from Brockworth Albion FC to locate sports changing rooms at the north end of Mill Lane.

To consider and decide on the request from Brockworth Albion FC to locate sports changing rooms at the north end of Mill Lane.

That would be at their 'spiritual home' of Mill Lane Playing Fields. Thier manager said they wanted to move back there if they could improve the facilities.

Hi Tim, well the old ICI Fibres ground was directly behind the factory in Golf Club Lane, which is off Ermin Street (the old Birdlip Road), I know this as an old associate member of their magnificent social club. I used to play for EIG in the Glos. Sunday League Div. 2 on their ground. I don't know if anything still remains however.Unimpressed

Presumably they moved from Golf Club Lane to Woodlawns at some point. No sign of anything there now on Google maps - may be underneath the Premier Inn!

Was informed last night that it is now all change in the GNSL for next season. Having been denied promotion to the Gloucestershire County League, Shortwood United Res have withdrawn from the league and will now play in the Hellenic Reserve League. This means that Soudley have been reprieved from relegation back to the North Glos league and Ramblers will keep their place in Division 1.
The league cup draw was as below, so I assume that Soudley will now just take the place of Shortwood.

WEDNESDAY 15th AUGUST 2012 - Kick-Off 6-30pm. FC BAROMETRICS v BROCKWORTH ALBION CHELT CIVL SERVICE v HARDwICKE LONGFORD v RUARDEAN HILL RANGERS STAR FC v CAM BULLDOGS BREDON v TUFFLEY ROVERS RES BROADWELL AMAT'S v VINEY ST SWITHINS GALA WILTON v REAL WHADDON BARNWOOD UTD v BOURTON ROVERS DURSLEY TOWN v CHALFORD SMITHS ATH v HARROW HILL STROUD FC v LEONARD STANLEY STONEHOUSE TOWN v RAMBLERS WOTTON ROVERS v SHORTWOOD UTD RES ABBEYMEAD ROVERS v SHARPNESS LYDBROOK ATH v MINSTERWORTH MORETON RANGERS v WINCHCOMBE TOWN

My one and only visit to Brockworth was on 25.3.95 when the home club beat Dursley Town 2-1 in Div. 1 of the GNSL. Att : 36. Never been back so the pitch I saw the club play on at Brockworth RFC, Mill Lane is the only one I've visited. My photos suggest the pitch was just over the hedge from the shared clubhouse with the left hand goal - looking from the side nearer Mill Lane - close to the hedge. The right side of the white brick clubhouse building can be seen immediately behind the goal. The front of the building faced the car-park. It looks as though there were two rugby pitches adjoining the left hand side of the football pitch (looking from the clubhouse end) and that these were running widthways whereas the football pitch ran lengthways from the clubhouse end. A game was in progress on the rugby pitch furthest from the clubhouse. No railings or ropes visible anywhere. Photos available on request.

That's a bit of a blow! I was hoping the first round would be on the 8th, as it's become my first competitive football of the season in recent years.

That would tie in with Google Earth, though other than a 1940's shot the first view one online is 1999, by which time "Trevor's" pitch appears to have become a Rugby pitch, As is the pitch directly outside the clubhouse. The only football pitch in the 1999 Google shot appears to be the one I saw them play on, though it does not appear to be have rails. Coming forward in time to 2007 which appears to be the last view online, "Trevor's" pitch is a rugby pitch, the pitch outside the clubhouse is now a railed football pitch and the area where I saw a game is taken up by two rugby pitches but at right angles to where my pitch was, this ties in with Trevor from 1995. The question is when did Brockworth leave the county league and was the pitch they used then moved, they must have joined in 1995 as I went in 95/6 in county league and Trevor went in 94/5 in GNSL. It does appear that pitches have been moved around the complex over the years.
