You could well be right. As I said, there have been a couple of Saturdays when both Forest and B&L were scheduled to be at home.
I hope to see Forest soon (maybe even next Sat at Upham) so will let you know what I find out.

5 of my mates play for forest town, they play on the outer pitch and have even played on a pitch across the road of the entrance to main ground

I know the Blackfield area well, and those pitches surrounding the area are literally fields. If they do indeed play on them, then they haven't got a hope in hell of getting into a higher tier. However, their saving grace is the fact in the surrounding area (New Forest), their are quite a few step 5/6 grounds (AFC Totton, Totton & Eling, Hythe & Dibden, Fawley, Blackfield & Langley, Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Lymington, New Milton Town, Bashley) and with the economic climate the way it is, one of them may be able to provide the club a ground-share agreement.

Went to Sway last season are they are certainly looking to come up and hope to get to the Wessex. The ground is different to the one they had when they were in the old Hampshire League, that is now used by junior teams. The new setup is very good for what ever step the Bournemouth League is, in fact a Atcost stand or two and floodlights is all that is needed for step 6 or even step 5. It's quite enclosed, railed with dugouts and has hard standing all around the pitch. There was a tea bar in a large social room.

I was at Sway in November. They had a section of covered terrace (home made) almost complete and their application for floodlights is apparently at the NIMBY stage.

Absolutely correct.

If people do a google search of blackfields ground they will see the other two pitches i mean. The problem is that there is a Blackfield & Langley first team (wessex prem) , a blackfield and langley reserves side (wyvern league division 1 west) , forest town first team (hants 2004 league) and a forest town reserve team (soton saturday league junior 1 / div 3).

So with 4 teams trying to use the 3 pitches it gets a bit un co-ordinated at times.

In previous years i have also seen forest town in a low soton league game play in langley.

Thanks, yeah spotted that - it's raining again here (not heavily) so I hope they get the match played at Totton this time!

The local cups (Southampton and Hants Intermediate) have produced some cracking games this season so I'm happy that it may progress at last.

I may be looking at Fareham v Downton now today, or even Fleet v Woodford if I'm offered a lift....

EDIT: AFC Totton v Upham now OFF again!

I had a look at the New Forest District Council web site and can't find any application for lights at Sway, but of course they wouldn't need lights if they were trying for the HPL. My daughter's head of department was managing the Reserves last season, and apparently there was a bit of an issue when they signed a number of players with Wessex experience for the first team, and others were pushed down to the Ressies. He resigned, but I see he is still on the players list for this season. My son in law played one game for them when they were short last year (and scored a goal) - he is mainly a golfer, but has started playing regularly for Portcastrian Reserves this season, and has even had a few call ups for their first team.

The game I saw last season between Sway and Boson's Chair in a cup semi-final was as good as a step 5 game, mainly due to the fact many of the players on both sides had played at step 5 or above in the preceding couple of seasons.

It looks like Sparsholt College will be playing in the Hampshire League next season. Quote from the Daily Echo:

"It is a problem which may be partly resolved by the rumoured merger between the Magnata Care League and the Hampshire Premier next season.

Sparsholt College are expected to take a place in the Premier Division.

They have applied to go into the Wessex League but have been told that, as they are essentially a youth team, they will have to start at level seven – ie the Hampshire Premier."

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/..._football_once_more/

They have links with Salisbury City and other senior clubs and are currently playing in the Football Conference Youth Alliance and South West Counties Youth League under the Salisbury City name.
The football section of the College's website is http://www.sparsholt.ac.uk/...t-football-academy-0

**edit**

Just reading a bit more about this - Salisbury City are moving their youth section to Sarum Academy and it appears their partnership with Sparsholt is ending which may be why the College are looking to enter the pyramid in their own right.

"But on the negative side Fleet Spurs have again tendered their resignation for the end of the season."

Interesting news, not sure if this means the club completely folding, or a drop down to step 7 football.

It could also mean a switch to the Combined Counties league. The 'again' intrigues me as well, did tey try last year but reverse their decision?

"2007/08 saw Warrington Town make big plans for the future with ambitions to be in the Football League within 5 years."

Five years later, and were still in the Evo-Stik North.

Pretty sure this is the third consecutive season that Fleet Spurs have done this - and I am pretty sure they have no intention of folding or dropping down a level - I would say they are just very eager to join the CoCo Division One, nothing more nothing less.

I saw Bournemouth League Portcastrian win at Hants Premier leaders Locks Heath this season and they were a very good side.

Bournemouth Sports came up from the Bournemouth League a couple of years ago and did very well in their first season.

I don't know if they're 'very eager' as they've never formally applied to switch before to my knowledge. I'm sure they'd be slotted straight in if they did.
A lot of their players have been at local CCL clubs in the past, they've just signed another couple in fact.

I have only seen one game in the Bournemouth League but on the basis of that and local cup results I would think it is of a higher then the 2004 and maybe on par with the Hants Premier. This is repeated in many areas where so called local league are as good if not better than county, area and regional leagues. The Coventry Alliance is one that springs to mind and certainly in Oxfordshire the Witney League is as good as the Oxfordshire Senior
