Hampshire League 2004 next season Can't Post or Reply Privately

From their website:

'This season we have lost Portsmouth Royal Navy FC; Botley Villasge FC; Fair Oak FC; and Horndean United FC. But we welcome Lyndhurst FC and Forest Town FC (subject to HFA clearance)'

They list the clubs who will be in the league next season as:

Andover Lions FC

Broughton FC

Crusaders FC

Durley FC

Forest Town FC

Four Marks FC

Infinity FC

Lyndhurst FC

Michelmersh & Timsbury FC

Mottisfont FC

Upham FC

They have an AGM on 9th June so more news may appear after that.
The final league table now appears with the enigmatic: WHERE GAMES WERE NOT PLAYED THEY WERE AWARDED TO THE OPPOSITION

Forest Town is new to me (probably not to the rest of you - they appear to be linked to Blackfield and Langley and play at Gang Warily:
http://www.foresttownfc.co.uk/
They were third in the Southampton Senior League last season. Only team to beat Bush Hill.

There's another thread about the relationship between the HPFL and the HL2004 elsewhere (General), and most people there seem to think that the HL2004 would either disappear or become the 'HPFL Div 1'. You need better facilities to be in the HPFL.

Last season Hedge End Rangers were champions of the HL2004, and they moved to the HPFL (installing new dugouts and rails), this season I was at Durley (HL 2004 champions) v Andover Lions late on in the season and the former didn't seem to be considering applying to the HPFL but the latter would have loved to, they saw it was the way to progress up the leagues, only problem is, they didn't finish high enough up the league last season after a bad start. I'm sure they will go up this season.

Would the Hampshire Premier League relegate the bottom club though - or would they stretch to 19?

They have relegated in the past. Headley United back to the Aldershot & District a couple of years ago.

Were Headley actually relegated though or did they just voluntarily choose to drop down. There was 17 in the HPL when Headley left the league and there were 17 the season after - so unless the HPL wanted to operate with 17 on purpose I'd suggest Headley weren't pushed out?

But may have missed something?

They had ground grading problems think they would have left where ever they had finished.

I can't remember the details but it was definitely not a voluntary relegation. I remember reading their website at the time regarding the issue. It may have been ground related but I can't find anything now that mentions it.

It'll be the same as all the other step 7 leagues now so no.
It may have been different a few years ago.

From the Andover Lions website:

It is proposed that next season the Magnata Care 2004 Hampshire League and the Hampshire Premier League will merge and therefore promotion and relegation will operate.
Any thoughts or suggestions of a move back to The Portway would appear to be a long way off the mark. The Council were apparently talking to another party about their use of the Stadium and we had hoped to ground share with that organisation but it would seem to have gone very quiet on that front and I cannot see the Portway being used this season. The Surveyors Report that was issued suggested that circa £250k would need to be spent on the facility and TVBC probably do not have anything near that amount of money spend on it.

Not much on it yet, but...... first News:

The Chairman of Mottisfont FC has advised the League that owing to the Club failing to be able to put a team together (only 8 players registered) the Club would be reluctantly withdrawing from the League.

According to the Upham website:

The 2013/14 football season will bring together the current Hampshire Puma Premier League & our own Hampshire Magnata 2004 League. Recent meetings involving the member clubs in each of the current leagues brought about a unanimous vote supporting the amalgamation under the designated title of 'The Hampshire Premier Football League'.
The new league will consist of Senior and First Divisions plus a Combination Division.
In the next few months the new combined management committee will be working to enable the commencement of all the competitions involved in the new set-up.

A bit more from the Andover Lions website:

At this meeting the League Committee voted 11-1 in favour of the merger and the Clubs voted 9-0 with 1 abstention. On Wednesday night the Hants Premier League also voted unaminously in favour of the merger so it will now be taken further with Hants FA in order that it can commence in August.

No news yet on whether the 2004 league will become a feeder league to the Premier League.

Doesn't the above say they're merging under the Premier League banner? So the 2004 league will simply cease to exist? Or am I misreading it.........?

That's my interpretation - how they do it has not yet been decided - two divisions, decided by facilities?

Which wouldn't be much different from now, apart from the nomenclature.

If that were the case, I think only Lyndhurst, Andover Lions, and maybe Forest Town (if you allow groundsharing - I assume they play on Blackfield and Langley's main pitch, although a couple of Saturdays they seem to clash) might have the required facilities for the existing Hampshire Premier.

I have been told they play on an outside pitch, not the main ground.
Haven't confirmed this myself though.

You could well be right. As I said, there have been a couple of Saturdays when both Forest and B&L were scheduled to be at home.
I hope to see Forest soon (maybe even next Sat at Upham) so will let you know what I find out.

Luckily at present those 3 clubs are the top 3 in the table, so I'd assume they'd be in contention for the Hampshire Premier. With Locks Heath looking to move up to the Wessex League, and potential lateral movement, there could be a chance for all 3 teams to go up. I'd imagine the 2nd division would be made up of the remaining 7 teams plus others from the Southampton and Portsmouth leagues.

I wonder if Sway (currently leading Bournemouth Hayward League) will move up to Hants Prem next season - ground looks to be of Step 7 standard.

Possibly, Sway were members of the old Hampshire League for a good number of years.

Went to Sway last season are they are certainly looking to come up and hope to get to the Wessex. The ground is different to the one they had when they were in the old Hampshire League, that is now used by junior teams. The new setup is very good for what ever step the Bournemouth League is, in fact a Atcost stand or two and floodlights is all that is needed for step 6 or even step 5. It's quite enclosed, railed with dugouts and has hard standing all around the pitch. There was a tea bar in a large social room.
