I heard Cliff Richard on the radio putting the Bee Gees on a par with The Beatles, praise indeed

Very sad indeed Frown

Absolutely right. so many great songs, and the last 3 albums every bit as good as the old stuff.

When I was growing up the Bee Gees were in their disco phase so I wasn't a fan. I still think their songs from that time are dreadful. I work with a band who do 50s and 60s covers and I've got a playlist of songs for between the band's sets which has got a couple of older Bee Gees tracks on it which I've recently heard that are wonderful. The Battle Of The Blue And Grey for instance. And then there's that great song that I first heard when Chumbawamba did a version of it - New York Mining Disaster 1941.

I have to be honest and say I've underrated them all this time.

There were four Gibb brothers, sadly three are now dead. By one of these strange quirks of fate they have died in "reverse" order, Andy, then Maurice and now Robin leaving just the eldest brother Barry alive. Robin according to a websearch was 35 minutes older than twin Maurice.

I liked the early Bee Gees songs in the Sixties, Couldn`t stand the Disco Shite but fair play to them for reinventing themselves and made an absoloute fortune. As Molders says ironic that they have passed away Youngest first, with Barry the oldest the sole survivor.

Ha ha....I got married in an (off)-white suit, in fact back in 1977
and being the possessor of el Travolta's swarthy looks, this could
have been me at the reception. (I don't possess any recorded evidence
of the fight that broke out later though...Unsure)
