RL National Conference Ground Hopping. Can't Post or Reply Privately

Could be a serious option for anyone missing their weekly "footie fix" now that the National ( ie Northern ) Conference as changed from the winter to summer months . I went to Wigan St Judes v Leigh Miners Rangers last Sat in the NCL Challenge Cup and despite the very basic setting enjoyed a good and inexpensive afternoon out.

I couldn't recommend this competition more highly. It's superb value for money.

There's as much pride in this club as there is at Anfield - just fewer people showing it.
If you don't like it, don't ****ing come.

Saw 2 good games over the weekend, but I'm still a bit confused over the relative position of RL3 to the other 3 divisions!

Last new football ground (438) Beck Lane Bay Athletic 2-1 Ovenden West Riding (13/5)
With FC United: 83 - and looking forward to one in Moston in 2014-5 (touchwood)!
On the agenda:
Osters v AIK (19/5)
Hammarby v Landskrona (20/5)

I would say it's totally different but just been brought under the auspices of the administration of the NCL.

Teams in it were playing Summer rugby before the rest of the NCL switched this "summer".

It's hard to judge but I'd say it was of a lower quality than what it's supposed to be, assuming that RL had a pyramid system. which it doesn't.

The "lower" regional divisions are the same, some are good quality, some I would get a game, which is no laughing matter at my age!. I'd probably beat some of them in a sprint anyway!

Thanks IanS. Interesting. I'd have thought from watching Warrington v Kippax that they were both better than Hunslet Warriors and Bradford Dudley Hill in RLC1, notionally 2 levels above. It all seems a bit odd - I guess the RFL might take new entrants into Chmapionship 1 (3rd level) from any league?

I thought that NCL 3 fed into NCL 2 , in theory, without any automatic promotion, although, as you say, any new entrants to the professional game, would be more likely to come from the likes of Coventry Bears than those from supposedly higher divisions.

I am also intrigued by admission prices which seem to bear little relationship to the division teams play in as you read through the posts on this thread. The most I have paid is £4 at Underbank Rangers for my first game last season. Coming straight from non-League football, I thought nothing of this, but others at the ground were horrified, and, I suppose, looking at what other clubs charge, they have a point.

Even £4 is still good value, though, I must say!

The £4 there does include a programme, though at Eccles £2 included a programme also. Bramley was £4, with a programme £1.50 extra - I do like the venue there though.

I'm surprised at the cost of Championship rugby league, IIRC it's been £14-17. I've found that, booking in advance, you can get Super League cheaper, those kind of offers don't generally appear in the 2nd level (eg. St Helens is £7 for selected games with Tesco vouchers...). I'm yet to see a game at the 3rd level, but that's quite a gap between the 2nd and the lower levels.
