Just been reported on US TV that legendary NY Cosmos striker passed away this morning, aged 65.
The record NASL scorer began his career at Swansea Town (as was) before returning to his native Italy, becoming regarded as an all-time great at Lazio before making his move to the Cosmos at the age of 28, where he hit 193 goals in 213 appearances. His temperament and outspoken nature probably limited his international career, making only 14 appearances for Italy.
