Football Near Brixton On Monday 2nd April Can't Post or Reply Privately

On Monday I'll be chaperoning my daughter and her friend to the Brixton Academy as they'll be watching some band called 'You Me At Six.' Let's be clear about this, I'm NOT going in with them thank you very much! I was hoping to find a game I could get to by public transport while they watch the gig but so far have drawn a blank. Does anyone have any ideas or will I be watching premiership football in the nearest pub?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Beckenham Town v Erith Town in the Kent Hurlimann League is on this Monday. The ground is near Eden Park station on the Hayes Line from London Bridge. You can get the Northern Line tube from Stockwell to London Bridge.

Not sure how feasible this is for you Dave, but i know you are an adventurous type so you can give it due consideration!

Boreham Wood isn't far from the station as I recall. Probably not that much longer to get there, assuming you need it.........

Thanks Doug and Paddy. I'll do some research into the times and see how it pans out.

Doug, any adventurousness I may have will be severely tempered by the fact that if I'm not back by the time the girls want picking up and their mums find out about it I'll be toast. Unsure

You're little girl will soon grow mate. You've got it all to come and when you're at matches bemoaning teenage tantrums and all the other delights of hormone fuelled girls there'll be the likes of myself and Paddy nodding sagely and offering our commiserations as the memories of our own trevails come flooding back. Cool

From experience gigs at Brixton finish between 10.30-11pm so you should have plenty of time to get back from Beckenham Town either by car or public tranpsort in time for the end of it, that said I've no idea who this band are & they may only have about 5 songs to sing so it might be all over by 8pm Wink

There's a train from Eden Park (2 mins walk from ground) to London Bridge at 21.19 arriving at 21.49 or of 21.49 arriving 22.19 it's 8 miles & 30 mins drive from Eden Park Station to the Academy.

According to Beckenham's website it's a 7.30pm kick off

Northamptonshire CCC still unbeaten this season

Thanks for that Steelback. I think I'll have to make a decison on the day depending partly on what time they go in.

Or bus 358 outside ground, on main road, to Crystal Palace, then number 3 to Brixton. Both 15 minute journeys. Or 197 outside ground, to Penge. (Sainsburys stop) Then 358 OR 227 up to the Palace, & the 3.

Google London bus & each number & you should get ful ltimetables, from a site, which I can't remember & am too lazy to check, but it's very easy.

The venue website says an 11pm finish concurring with the suggestion up the page so I reckon you can probably get away with it.

You can get a train from Brixton direct to Beckenham Junction which is about 15/20min walk. If you don't fancy the walk and have time to spare get a tram to Arena and another tram to Elmers End and train to Eden Park

This route might be my best bet. It partly depends on what time they go in as I've been given explicit instructions not to leave them until they're safely inside. Unsure

19...something. There's only one one nine something that passes the ground, it's that one! ;-)

From Elmers End,come out of the station, turn right on the main road, left at the lights, then along to Elmers End Green. The bus stop the other side of the green, in front of the newsagents, three or four buses, go to Eden Park station. unless there's a connection it should be just as easy by bus, I'd stick with the bus up to the Palace, & then the 3 to Brixton as the easiest.

Thanks to all those who offered help and advice. Sadly I was undone by the Brixton Academy who didn't open their doors till 18:45 meaning the girls didn't get into the venue till 19:15 which was too late to get to Beckenham before the kick off. I was not best pleased! Mad
