Clyde seek to leave Broadwood in May Can't Post or Reply Privately

From the Daily Record:

With dwindling crowds and increased rates at Broadwood, Clyde’s financial director David Dishon admits the club now needs to seek a commonsense approach to their difficulties.
He said: “We held discussions with four senior clubs over a possible ground-share and the talks with Partick Thistle have been positive. We’ve also spoken to Airdrie, Alloa and Stirling Albion and now we need to see what develops from that.

“Our current position at Broadwood is unsustainable and we must now assess the options and if a ground-share is agreed that would be an obvious solution.
“North Lanarkshire Leisure have activated a five-year rental review which takes the rent up from £68,000 a year to £80,000 and we have rates on top of that.
“We are only averaging between 350 and 450 spectators each week and we just made it above the 300 mark for recent games against Peterhead and East Stirling so those figures are compounding the problems.
“Our ideal scenario would be to stay at Broadwood but if it makes financial sense to come to an agreement with Partick Thistle then so be it.”

Not exactly a huge loss. Boring, soulless ground in the middle of nowhere that rivals the Arctic Circle as one of the coldest places on the planet. Even the Clyde fans hate the place.

Got to think they'd be better off at Airdrie or Firhill than Alloa or Stirling Albion, to be closer to their traditional fan base in Rutherglen. Hopefully something comes of the Showpark development in East Kilbride, but after hearing scare stories about the state of the place it maybe looks unlikely.

Not sure how Firhill could cope with Partick, Clyde and Glasgow Rugby - mayble the rugby will move to Broadwood as has been diwscussed in the past.

There are two rival 'bids' regarding East Kilbride at the moment. There's the well-publicised idea for EK THistle and Clyde to develop a community stadium at The Showpark. However, a more likely development comes from a local businessman who wants to build a new stadium elsewhere in the town.

Would this move happen at the end of this season?

Still need to do it!

Cheers

They have stated that they intend to leave Broadwood at the end of this season. They only have three more home games.

March 24 v Elgin
April 7 v Stranraer
April 28 v Alloa

Of course, this may just be a bargaining stance in their dispute with North Lanarkshire Council over the rent increase.
