Last deed of the day will be to toe poke this one over the line with Dai Woodward. Can't say I had ever heard of this bloke until now. There's preciously little on B&B/AFCB history on the web, a job for you John? http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/ looks like a pretty useful site by the way.

*** GOAL *** Yes surprising the gaps in the ether on this one - you had best buy "The Definitive AFC Bournemouth" Laurie "Dai" Woodward, 25 years at Bournemouth. Originally at Wolves pre-war he was loaned to Walsall in 1938-39 and helped them reach last 16 of the F.A. Cup. Along with other Wolves juniors he joined Bournemouth in 1939. He was a cousin of Viv Woodward (Fulham). Returning to the club after the war he arrived just in time to help Bournemouth win the Div 3 South Cup in 1945-46. Thereafter a regular from September 1946 to October 1953 amassing nearly 300 league and cup appearances before going on to coach the reserves and youth teams for the following decade. Upon retiring from that role he was granted a testimonial match against Arsenal.
