I wasn't being critical, WC, merely pointing out that some bands are often known for one big hit despite all their other works. I suspect whoever chose 'Denis' for East Enders might well have forgotten the others (if ever he or she knew them).

You say that but my feeling is Denis is less well known than some of their later stuff. In my mind Atomic, Hanging On The Telephone, Heart Of Glass and Sunday Girl are better known amongst the general public. I could be wrong.

Heart of Glass is the big stand out one, and to a lesser extent The TideIs High, and possibly Call Me. Those are big songs on your typical (awful) radio station aimed at 30something women with family. Don't like any of those myself, though Call Me is alright. Atomic and HOTT probably test better with more of a male than female audience so that's probably why certain stations play them a lot out of many who don't play those songs at all.

Don't mind Absolute though only listen in small doses driving around which is probably why I can bear it, ditto xfm. That's the trouble with no repeat 9-5 stations - they just play the same songs the next day in a slightly different order.

As for soaps music, don't they 'pipe' in/out music deliberately/subtlely representing a particular scene? So for example the postmen on duty with Stand and Deliver in the background. Well something like that
And on I don't watch soaps either.

Probably in the minority here but I think Natalie Imbruglia turned out to be a damn good singer after leaving Neighbours, in fact, I even have all her albums Blush
