Olympic Qualification Play-off game at Coventry 23rd Apr Can't Post or Reply Privately

An Olympic Qualification play-off match for the Mens Tournament between Senegal and an Asian Federation member will take place at the City of Coventry Stadium (aka The Ricoh Arena!) on April 23rd. Ticket prices seem quite reasonable!

There was a feature on Midlands TV news today about the potential for Syria to be involved in this match.
Extra police would be required for security or to control political demonstrations.

Will now be either Oman, Uzbekistan or Syria. These were the runners-up in the three final Asian qualifying groups, and they play each other in Hanoi later this month to decide who goes forward to the play-off with Senegal. Japan, South Korea and the UAE took the group-winners spots and have all qualified directly for the summer.

This means that Australia's mens and womens teams have now both missed out from the Asian Qualifiers, while New Zealand look set for a double representation via the direct Oceania spot in each tournament. The Australian women are particularly aggrieved as they finished just short of the spot won by North Korea, who have been banned from the next World Cup after drug offences at last years finals.
