Richard Rundle, but a "quota" system has been in force in pro-football for many years. Till today, European leagues have a restriction on the number of non-EU players that can play for their teams. e.g. Napoli cannot go out and play 7 Russians in their starting 11 against Chelsea this week. Barcelona cannot field 5 Brazilians etc. This is why a lot of teams in Spain and Portugal "naturalise" (i.e. grant citizenship) to their players as a way of increasing space in their squad for other non-EU players. South American players like Deco, Marcos Senna, Messi etc are products of 'naturalisation.

Remember Jay Jay Okocha? He was granted Turkish citizenship while playing Fenerbahce, so that the team could release a space in their 'foreigner' quota to sign other players.

What the KOPA, TCFF and Jewish leagues are doing is not that unusual.

No, it's rather different. The professional tournaments make discriminatory quotas based on NATIONALITIES, the KOPA restrictions are based on ETHNIC ORIGINS. Not that I agree with the former either, but only the latter is racist.

Canada emerged one nil winners after a very long trip at Devon based Lakeside.Hetton went through 2-1 and video highlights can be found here.Seems like the red-mist of Oyster was evident again towards the end of the game.

Canada scored after 40 minutes and attendance was 505

Hetton led 2-0 (26 & 61) before Oyster pulled one back (70)
but Oyster later reduced to ten men after a studs up tackle saw a defender sent off

The crowd figure at Billingham was 254

I've just watched the highlights and the Oyster player sent off was none other than their Captain Tony Rendell, who was also sent off against Tripimeni!

Their discipline has obviously improved if they only had one player sent off, poetic justice that they lost today and hopefully they really are out this time!

I went to the Lakeside Athletic v Canada SF, and have to say I was very disappointed by the standard of football and entertainment on offer.

One effort on target (the Canada goal) in the first 80 minutes summed it up really although both teams forced a couple of saves towards the very end.

Decent display by the Canada No. 10 (I've not got the names to hand at the moment), and especially the No. 5 who scored the goal, was a defensive collosus and importantly at the final whistle when his team-mates all deservedly started leaping and jumping about, he first made sure he went to all the Lakeside players and shook hands before joining in the celebrations.

Lakeside had former 1.5 million goalkeeper Kevin Miller (now 42 and looking even older than that) between the sticks!

2 red cards on the trot: well at least Rendell is is "varying" his red card offences. He got a red against Tripimeni for two yellow cards (the second for dissent). The straight red against Hetton was deserved - it was an awful studs up tackle, caused by his own dip in concentration by letting the ball run under his foot and towards a Hetton player.
