Spring? You seem to know your onions!

The only tomatoes I eat are liquidised in either a bottle, or a can, both that say Heinz on the side.

How come in the summer, the beef jobbies cost around 60p each
in Tesco/Sainsbury et al but I can get five for a quid on Romford market?
Same goes for Romana peppers too...
The knobs stick a bit of plastic on them, call it Finest and they sell for 2 a pair....
again, seven for a quid on the market at the height of summer..
What's that all about then?

FA Vase semi programme wanted: 2001 Taunton v Clitheroe.

FA Trophy programmes wanted: 1969-70 Any round from first season. Have many but plenty of gaps still to fill.

Demented supermarket food logistics. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that the market trader makes more profit on each item.

I only said it for cause and effect but gave up buying salad and veg from the big five about three years ago.
Made a concerted effort to check out the price differential once between said vendors - scary as I saved enough
for a decent bottle of Rioja on every trip...sorted.

We don't buy much veg over the course of the year due to Mrs UKPunk growing a wide variety in our garden. As for tomatoes, nothing can compare to the tomato and basil soup she makes from the ingredients she grows, including the basil.

For those who have a garden I'd recommend growing your own. It could save you a fair amount of money in the long term.

Not that I do anything other than mowing the lawn you understand. Cool

This time of year, stick to Heinz tomato soup or Napolina plum peeled tomatoes.
My daughter likes to plant 2 batches in the garden that are ripe in July & September :-)
