The Olympics may be a 20-minute train ride from my doorstep but my excitement
level as to its coming has yet to reach the lazy lob stage.
How comforting to know that another £40m - apparently from within the original
budget - has been found to improve on the fireworks, before and after.
And the security bill has now reached over half a billion with 23,700 security staff
needed. I would love to see a break down on costs for that.
If they are paid £100 a day for both events that would come to say £60m, although
I cannot believe any self respecting terrorist would hit the paralympics, not exactly
high profile for a takedown of the Great Satan's lapdog...
I do hope I am wrong but the travelling will be a nightmare considering the siting of
the Olympic village so close to the City. Coming from my manor, to the east, won't
be too bad as most peeps will get there after the rush hour and few tourists will come
in that way because there is little accommodation that side of town...but coming from
the West...it's gonna by mayhem. Oh, and as for the evenings in the summer....
I shall be renting Chez Quixote out to some rich Yank and piss off to the Costa Dorada
for the month.
Happy days....

Much of the security at the 1948 London Olympics was carried out by the Boy Scouts Angelic

Maybe the Boy Scouts would do a better (and cheaper) job this time around.

I will just be glad when the whole bloody thing is over and I live 200 miles away.

'Scouting for Girls' would be an even better name for a crap band.
'Scouting for Boys' sounds more like Michael Jackson's favourite hobby!

I've been looking at TfL's congestion hotspots maps for the games.
Great fun on the 28th and 29th July on all routes south west of London.
Remind us to make sure we have a home friendly that weekend.
And the M4/A4 doesn't exist according to TfL. They've called it the M1 and A1 instead. Let's hope they're not responsible for printing maps for tourists.

I wouldn't trust TfL to organise the proverbial drinking session in a brewery and why the hell do we need opening and closing ceremonies?

A pity we didn't get the opportunity to decide whether we wanted our tax revenues squandered (in Donkey's back yard), unlike the good burghers of Colorado

We get the games we deserve and despite the bleatings of Harriet Harperson (when her and her limp wristed pals were in power),
a few holes have suddenly appeared in what seemed a sensible budget and everything appeared to be on course.
Have not checked the small print yet, but I presume my Council Tax will be reduced accordingly from August 1 next year?
Would love to know why the pre and post games' jolies have doubled in expenditure and why the security staff numbers have
gone up wholesale.
And don't get me started on the football...why in Sweaty Sockland FFS? What bit of 'London Olympics' blah, blah, blah?
More importantly, I have enrolled on a couple of rent your home sites and expect Ed Case and his cash laden inbred family
from the Carolinas, to fork out untold wealth to allow them to make the most of Chez Quixote for a month and allow me
to imbibe in Rioja and Cava until the sun goes down on the Costa Dorada...happy days Cool
