Wetherspoons Beer Festival Can't Post or

As a spin off from the beer thread, we are a few days into the Spoons fest, how many of you have partaken? What have you had and what did you think?

Last night had a swift (but late) away from work and managed a couple. Stone San Diego Session IPA and Anderson's Scotch. Both were alright, but the IPA had a very bitter after taste that lasted for ages.

Two down, 48 to go. Not that I'll get them all done.

Just a note to anyone who is wondering, I am no longer a moderator of this forum due to current personal circumstances and work commitments. If you need help, contact leohoenig or Steve walker. Thank You.

28 down-22 to go; this was helped in no small measure by a visit to the Trent Bridge Inn in Nottingham where there were 20 beer festival beer barrels in an upstairs room, as well as a few on the downstairs bar.

My fave so far is the Caledonian Cossacks Stout - fantastic beer!

I must have had an off pint then because to my mind it was very thin and watery and not at all what I would expect from an Imperial Russian Stout.

1 left to find for me.

Spot on Mr J

Enjoyed a couple of pints of Odell's 90 shilling (brewed at Caledonian), this was the one I wanted to try, having worked behind the bar with Doug Odell at beer festivals. Succumbing to the ultimate beer snobbery by only drinking 'beers brewed by people you know'.

I haven't had the opportunity to try many of the ales on offer, however I did have the Pendle Porter and agree it was delicious Tongue
Has anybody tried this 3 mini pies promotion??

Re: [LondonBuck] Wetherspoons Beer Festival [In reply to] Can't Post or

Missed out by 2.

Never saw either, Evan Evans - 1767 or Box Steam - Piston Broke. When I asked the barman in the Waterhouse, Manchester whether they'd had either in, he said he couldn't recall them.

48 out of 50. 59 new ales in October, decent month. Probably my favourite was 1 of the 11 non festival ales, Red Willow - Ageless, a giant Double IPA. Of the festival ales: Caledonian Cossack/Pendle Porter/Cascadian Black. I was a fan of Hilden - Twisted Hop - of the pale ales it was good. For me the darker ones all stood out, I'm starting to refine my taste in beer, many very average/poor bitters.

Well on target for trying 365 new beers this year, 29 to go, probably achieve that by my birthday...
