New Ground for Llanwern / Lliswerry FC Can't Post or Reply Privately

From Welsh League website;

LLANWERN'S days at Newport Stadium appear to be numbered, although the city's council is poised to soon announce details that the club will be re-housed just a decent goal-kick from their present HQ.

I understand an announcement is imminent concerning a plan by The Football Association of Wales and Newport City Council to create a National Football Centre at the Newport International Sports Village (NISV) - of which Newport Stadium forms a part of.

The FAW and the game's development body, The Welsh Football Trust, plus NCC want to build an NFC to develop the Wales' under-21s, women's and younger age-group squads.

The development will include four state-of-the-art new pitches, including a top-grade, FIFA-approved artificial surface - known as 3G.

The centre will also provide headquarters for the WFT, with analysis suites, sports science laboratories and coach education facilities also proposed.

It's believed while Newport County will remain as Newport Stadium users, Llanwern will move the half-mile or so to play on the 3G pitch - a facility they will share with Gwent County League outfit Liswerry.

An article on the editor's page of last Wednesday's programme for the home MacWhirter Welsh League clash with county rivals Goytre, reads: "Planning permission will be applied for soon and, from what we hear, it looks distinctly possible that we will not be playing here at the (Newport) Stadium in two years time.

"The suggestion is that we will be playing on a 3G version synthetic grass stadium up to Welsh League standard, or better, elsewhere on the (NISV) site."

From Welsh League website today;

Llanwern will start the 2012-13 season in August with a new stadium, which will house changing rooms, hospitality suite, floodlights and a UEFA-approved artificial 3G-pitch, on grounds currently being developed behind the Velodrome adjacent to the club's current Newport Stadium home.
Gwent County League club Lliswerry will share the facilities until their own new pitch in the city will be completed in March, 2013.

From Welsh League website today;

LLANWERN NAME GARETH MORGAN AS NEW MANAGER

by Terry Daley

AMBITIOUS Division Three outfit Llanwern have replaced former long-serving manager Laurence Owen with ex-Croesyceiliog and Cwmbran Celtic boss Gareth Morgan.
Owen recently stood down from the Newport-based club at the end of the 2011-12 campaign because of increased family commitments after nine seasons in charge.
Morgan only resigned as manager of Division One side Celtic a week ago and his arrival coincides with Llanwern's move into a new stadium.
That is currently being built on the other side of the city's Velodrome - situated adjacent to Newport Stadium - and will be ready ahead of the new season which starts in August.
The new ground will consist of a UEFA-approved 3G-sytnthetic pitch, floodlights, a 100-seater stand plus dressing rooms and hospitality facilities.
........
"The club boasts some fine players and I am looking forward very much to working with them and managing the first MacWhirter Welsh League team to have a 3G playing surface.
"It's difficult to play a certain type of game on many of the pitches at our level, so to have that concern taken away for our home games should excite any player who likes to pass the ball and attack - and we will certainly look to do both in abundance!"

It appears now that in 2012-13, Llanwern will continue to use Newport Stadium at Spytty, whilst lliswerry will use the new 3G facility adjacent;
