Encouraging more editors Quote | Reply or Reply Privately

I've just had a glance at all leagues/divisions from Step 1 to Step 6 and found that they all have fixtures listed (and most are up to date with results) with the exception of the Southern League (or EvoStik South/Southern/whatever if you want).

There must be several people on the forum who could do this job but might need a bit of encouragement or an invitation to do it. Perhaps there is already someone signed up but even if so, the more the merrier.

Given that the average forum reader might not read this section of the forum, is there any good way of highlighting the need for Southern League editors? Perhaps someone "official" could put something on the "General" section or know of some other way to get this gap noticed by others?

Hi and thanks very much for the comments.

There has been a bit of a problem with access to the site since it went live which couldn't get fixed because the database guru was on holiday. I'm hoping this will be fixed in the next 48 hours. The reason I mention this is because it's quite likely that there is (are) Southern League Editors(s) but they simply haven't been able to get into their admin to edit it.

You're right that it may be an idea to post something about this in the General section however unless I sticky it then it's likely to sink fairly quickly off the front page. The main site has only been online a couple of weeks or so, so it was always acknowledged that some leagues may get a little neglected at the start. However despite the sites initial teething problems I am still getting two or three new Editor requests every day which I think is pretty good. Imagine if that is maintained for a few months, we will be laughing!

My message to you guys would be... get the message out there. Some of you must be regular posters on league forums or club forums. Give the site a mention. I don't mean spam it, just mention it, I'm sure you can work the site address into a post somehow, enough people do it on here lol. Get the webmasters to give us a link. It's all to do with traffic, the more people we get looking at the site the more will click the big red button to update a league they are interested in. If you're an editor already tell people how easy it is to update a league. Some people may want to help out but 'know nothing about computers'. If you can send an email or post on a forum or even read a forum then you have the skills to update a league.

Cheers.... Steve

Have signed up for Southern League updates. No problems thus far, just observations.

KO times:- 12 or 24 hour clock. Which is preferred? When saving new results the 03:00 is automatically updated to 00:00, whereas 15:00 remains at 15:00.

Should be 15:00... it uses a 24 hour clock. Nice to hear you are not having any problems... I was beginning to despair Mad

I doubt it very much. There isn't a way to know without me going through every editor and noting who does what.

Some people are doing leagues that they aren't really interested in just to help out until someone comes along who IS interested in it. Just because a league is being updated don't assume that it doesn't need an editor.

Cheers
