A few questions:

1) Coventry Amateurs (D2) - I thought Cov Ams (Mid Comb) changed their name to Cov Spartans? Does this suggest that Coventry Spartans are a completely new club and the Amateurs resigned from the Mid Comb to join the Stratford Alliance?

2) Am a right in thinking that Stratford Town (D2) and Redditch United (D4) are colts teams?

If you Google Coventry Amateurs you get http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/...ntryamateurs/106385/ which is out of date but refers only to the Stratford Alliance team.

I would say yes, looking at the other Colts in the league, think Stratford had a team in it last year

Nice to see Bretforton Old Boys back, and welcome for a number of our number who went to Bretforton at the end of last season.

Yet another good local league gaining clubs and adding a division, nice to see Grassroots football making a stong comeback, or common sense kicking in.

Note for travellers the league website says it will be publishing fixutes of the local pre-season / early season cup very shortly.

That's exactly what it is Andy. The FA have been bullying clubs into spending unnecessary monies at far too low a level and the clubs are now turning their backs on the FA pyramid at that level. I think we'll see more of this kind of thing which is great for local leagues who weren't getting anyone back through the supposed promotion/relegation channels. And the Midland Combination doesn't need three divisions anyway.

No doubt the usual suspects will be on here moaning about certain clubs' lack of ambition but the way up the pyramid is there for those that really want to take that chance which is exactly how it should be.

Hi Rambler 77,

I am the secretary of Coventry Spartans and used to be the secretary of Coventry Amateurs. Thought i might help out with one of your questions.

There was a split last season between the 1st team (Midland Combination) and reserve team (Stratford Alliance). Myself, match day secretary, treasurer and the 1st team management stayed with the midcomb team (coventry spartans).

As we had no personal ties with the Coventry Amateurs of the past it was decided that Anthony Lucas was to be re instated as chairman and he could keep the name of Coventry Amateurs, and that the reserve team could continue running under that name. He has personal ties and was the fairest thing to do.

Does this help in anyway. If you have any further questions please do ask.

Stratford Alliance has details of 12 matches in the Hospital Cup scheduled for Tuesday 2nd August. Details of some interesting matches are on the league website.

May be tempted by Astwood Bank.

As a regular reader and occasional poster I occasionally find information that I already know about. That doesn't bother me, I would rather know about something twice than not at all.

I certainly don't feel the need to reply "old news already" as happened to me recently.

I'm treating this site as a way of passing on information not a competition to find something new.
If you already know something - move on!

You'll get used to Molders eventually. It's probably because Astwood Bank seceded from Oxfordshire some time in the 18th century and he's still got the hump. In fact, that's how you'll recognise him.

Hmmm...............Snitterfield Snipers vs Bretforton Old Boys. I think so....................

Sorry to both the previous posters, I like to supply information correctly, the full draws in the correct section of the board. If the first poster would go to the top of the Statford Alliance thread he will see that I have already said the draws were to appear, once they did I put them in the correct section.

To the second poster maybe you don't want football information on this board about anymore ?.

Please everyone use a bit of common sense and look before you post, so many things get duplicated on this board, it only takes a few seconds to check if info has already been posted, the Stratford draw was the 3rd or 4th item in the correct section when the first posted made his entry. And I will go on using the term old news , I did not invent it, it is used by other posters.

Andy

1) You should give new users a chance to find there way around the board - the information posted by Simon was useful, even if it is already elsewhere. We want to encourage people putting on information, not discourage it!

2) In the past ten minutes, I have spotted two posts on different sections to inform me that Bicester will fold at 4 pm today. Anyone got the award for Kettles and Pots? - pass it to Mr. Molden pleaseShocked

As 'Simon says' it is better to have 2 or more posts on the same topic than none. It is annoying when there is repetition , only yesterday a poster duplicated summat . A quick P/M and he was in the right direction.
I always use the search posts option before asking a question , bit difficult yesterday though when putting Aston F C in the search engine and getting lots of Villa posts by Casey Jones usually followed with a remark by his Irish lapdog !
Any kettles coming my way Leo ?

One was in the Hellenic 2011/12 saying the club was no more, the second was in the F.A.Cup thread saying that their game in the F.A. Cup had been awarded to Bedfont Sports as they were folding. Two posts, both valid ?.
