Walcott diving? Can't Post or Reply Privately

I've just read a quote from Theo Walcott claiming he dived to get a penalty (the one that was overruled, not the one that was awarded) in today's game against Leeds. He apologised to both managers for doing so.

Any thoughts? I think it's a nice gesture to own up and apologise if he thinks he did wrong but actually seeing the replay I am convinced he was 'fouled' at least as much as most who go down for pennos. For the one that was given a minute later he was pulled and clearly tried to stay up to score (fortunately the officials didn't try to play 'advantage' when he didn't).

If the penalty had been given would Theo have jumped up shouting "no no no ref I dived"?

Who knows. The more I think about it the odder it seems. If you see the challenge, for me its a penno. Nobody would've batted an eyelid - so why say anything?

When I saw the challenge in real time I thought it looked a penalty, it certainly didn't look like a dive, so it is a bit strange that Walcott said what he said!
