The Final WILL TAKE PLACE on Saturday 28 April. This date is fixed and non negotiable.

The Semi-Finals will both be played on Saturday 31 March and the F.A. will take over the organisation of these two games. In the Preliminary Round three leagues who won Preliminary Round ties have fallen foul of competition Rule 15(K)
re “players who have been under written contract” The Leagues Committee considered each case
and decided that the leagues in question be removed from the competition and the ties awarded to the losers.

Match 7 – Birmingham & District AFA 0-2 West Riding County Amateur League
Match 10 – Gloucestershire County League 4-0 Mid Sussex League
Match 11 – Dorset Premier League 2-2 aet Hampshire Premier League (DPL won 5-4 on kicks from the penalty mark)

All those sides remaining in the competition should note it is their responsibility to check on all aspects of player eligibility.

The F.A. will assist if asked.
ALL first round dates and venues should be agreed by Monday 8th August.

There is also an unusual age restriction clause.

Something like no younger than 17, nor older than 33.

Easy to get caught out if not reading the small print.

Re: [VP] F.A.Inter-League (ex System) Cup 2011-12 (Prel Round completed) [In reply to] Can't Post or

A number of leagues and County F.A's have rules along the same lines. I noted on the Aylesbury League site that one teams players are being looked at because some of them were deemed "Senior" which is not allowed in the league rules, a couple of years ago Haddenham were relegated due to paying players and using "Senior" players.

The O.F.A have a rule where by any player who has played a certain number of Senior games, in the O.F.A case step 7 upwards, cannot play in Junior football after a certain date - I think 1st November. If they want to they have to apply to the O.F.A in writing to have their Senior status voided, if they then go back to senior football they cannot then play junior football for a fixed period. I does not stop senior players playing junior football usually at the end of the season but they tend to play under an assumed name.

A few years ago it was "alleged" by a number of clubs and a league committee that a number of players had registered under two or three different names and were moving between junior and senior football on a regular basis and by using various names, thus they were also avoiding suspensions. It first came to light when couple of players played in two rounds of the senior cup for two different clubs under two different names against the same team, they later played in a number of cup finals that were demmed Junior.

Section XI of the attached document sets out the rule. As usual with UEFA the rules are very detailed.

It is a UEFA rule used for this competition because the FA Inter-League Cup only exists as a means of providing a qualifier to represent England in the UEFA Regions Cup.

I see that gives the age limitations as 19-39

I thought the F.A. upper limit was lower than that, or was

Can you find that anywhere?

Can't find anything on the FA website re rules for the FA Inter League Cup.

The link I gave was the UEFA rules specifically for the Regions Cup for the season just ended, in which the finals were held in Portugal. It's possible the age limits have been amended from earlier editions of the competition.

F.A. INTER-LEAGUE CUP, FIRST ROUND
JERSEY FOOTBALL COMBINATION v MID-SUSSEX FOOTBALL LEAGUE
SPRINGFIELD STADIUM, ST. HELIER, JERSEY 2p.m., SATURDAY 1st OCTOBER 2011

The competition has the greatest prize in amateur football - the winning team has the right to play as England representing The F.A. against other European countries in the UEFA Regions Cup. After a good run last time we seek to do even better and emulate Guernsey and Isle of Man who have both won the competition in the past. The competition is for amateurs; no player who has ever had a professional contract may play. This rules out several otherwise possible squad members. Earlier this year Mid-Sussex suffered defeat at the hands of the Gloucestershire County League in the preliminary round only to be told later that their opponents had included an ineligible player, hence the Mid-Sussex League is playing in Jersey today.

Brief history of the Mid Sussex Football League:-

The Mid Sussex Football League, which celebrated its centenary in 2000, is currently formed of 80 clubs and 148 teams, a number which swelled significantly at the beginning of the 2010 - 2011 season following the Crawley & District Football League, a Step 7 League, disbanding due to falling numbers and most of their clubs joining the Mid Sussex League. The League is now of of such a size that delegates at the League's 2011 Annual General Meeting adopted a rule alteration to cap numbers at a maximum of 90 clubs or 150 teams, whichever is the greater, as it was felt any further increase would present a need for full time officers and serviced offices rather than the present part-volunteer workforce.
For the benefit of opponents and supporters it has to be explained that adult open age football in Sussex is played at three levels – senior, intermediate and junior – and the Mid Sussex Football League’s Step 7 Premier Division, together with a Championship Division inaugurated last season following the influx of clubs from the Crawley & District League, is designated intermediate while their remaining eleven divisions are junior. Most of the players this afternoon come from the Premier and Championship Divisions but a few are from the junior level ranks. The League, in addition, runs nine challenge cup competitions restricted to the divisions in which teams participate and ten years ago took over the running of the Mid Sussex Senior and Junior Charity Cups. The former attracting entries from teams in the Reserve Section and Division 3 of the Sussex County League and the West Sussex League. The League is proud it has been able to make total donations of over £2,500 to the Sussex County Football Association's Benevolent Fund during the time it has been running these competitions. The League also runs the only veterans’ competition in Sussex with entry originally restricted to member clubs and clubs traditionally invited to enter the Charity Cups mentioned earlier. Teams in the competition, for which players must be 37 and over, play approximately one game a month in Group matches on Sundays during the winter months and the winners and runners-up in each Group go forward at the end of the season to the quarter-final, semi-final and final ties. This season the veterans’ competition has attracted an entry of 24 clubs and as enquiries regarding entry are frequently received from clubs throughout Sussex and beyond the Mid Sussex League Management Committee decided at the end of last season to extend entry to the competition from this season onwards to any club within the League's catchment area that is an affiliated Saturday open age club, irrespective of entry to the charity cups. A major factor that has enabled the League to progress and grow over the past 30 years or so has been the three major sponsors it has had during the period, of which Gray Hooper Holt LLP the present sponsors are continuing their sponsorship for a 13th consecutive season. The Mid Sussex League entered the National League System Cup for the first time in 2005 - 2006 when it suffered an away defeat in the first round at the hands of neighbours, the Brighton , Hove & District League. In the 2007 - 2008 competition the League defeated the Spartan South Midlands League (Div 2) at home in the preliminary round but was beaten by the Essex Olympian League in an away first round only to be reinstated to the competition when The Football Association found their opponents had fielded an ineligible player. Subsequently Mid Sussex met the Southern Amateur League in a home second round tie where it was defeated by the eventual winners of the competition, who went on to play in the European competition. In 2009 - 2010 Mid Sussex were knocked out in a home preliminary round tie by the Bedfordshire League and earlier this year suffered defeat at the hands of the Gloucestershire County League in the preliminary round of the 2011 - 2012 competition only to be told later, as they were in the 2007 - 20008 renewal, their opponents had included an ineligible pl;ayer and, hence, the reason the Mid Sussex League is playing in Jersey today. The Mid Sussex League participates in an annual round robin inter-league competition in Sussex that comprises all but one of the Step 7 League in the County - Brighton Hove & District League, Mid Sussex League, Sussex County League (Division 3), West Sussex League and the Worthing & District League - and last season a single penalty conceded against eventual winners Sussex County League (Division 3) was all that denied Mid Sussex the trophy.

Today sees the Mid Sussex Football League making its first journey ever to Jersey in the competition and it hopes both teams, the match officials and the supporters experience an enjoyable encounter.

I see that gives the age limitations as 19-39

I thought the F.A. upper limit was lower than that, or was

Can you find that anywhere?

In the FA rules the age limitations are 16-40 on 1st Jan

Yes they have relaxed them even further this time after complaints, but it still meant one of our players was too old for last weeks match
