Father and Son Internationals Can't Post or

Tony Henman aged 70 is part of the England Over 70's Masters Hockey team, they recent won an International tournament. He is father of (come on) Tim. One of the Grandmothers (or Great Grandmothers) was also a Wimbledon player. One wonders if they are a sporting family or if coming from a "good background" (ie worth a few bob) has helped.

Tony Henman played for Headington United Reserves in the late 1950's.

Would Princess Anne and Zara Phillips have been any good on horses if it were not for their background ?.

Are you saying they are descended from horses ?

Anne and Margaret were always game for a ride apparently, though you'd probably want them hooded.

Elena Baltacha (probably GB's number 1 women's tennis player)has a father (Sergei)who represented the Soviet Union at football and I believe her mother also competed internationally, but not sure at which sport. Her brother has played football for Scotland under 21.
A former Manchester City player had parents who both represented GB or England, at least one I think was an athlete.
Perhaps someone could name him and his parents. This is not a quiz question as such, I've just forgotten his name.

Elena Baltacha's mother Olha did athletics, specialising in the pentathlon. She missed the 1980 Olympics because she'd just had a baby (Sergei jnr, the one who played for Scotland U-21; I believe he played in the juniors for a while after not really making the grade professionally), and since the USSR didn't go to the 1984 games her chance was lost.

As for Princess Anne, not only did she and her daughter both compete for Britain in the three day event, but her father and brother were international sportsmen as well. Charles played polo for England, and Philip competed at carriage driving.

Danny Wilson made five appearances for Wales as a rugby league international, with his son Ryan (Giggs) playing one or two more games for Wales at football...

Princess Anne certainly looks like one. Another one for a hood methinks. Tongue

Along similar lines, current world ranked number 2 women's tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has a mother (Anna) who represented Poland at volleyball, whilst her father (Piotr), whilst not capped at international level as far as I know, played football professionally in Poland, Germany and Denmark, and her older brother (Patrik) plays football professionally in Denmark. Incidentally, anyone with little knowledge of women's tennis may find googling up an image of Miss Wozniacki to be quite rewarding!

I'm disappointed Hoddy. From a man of your smut calibre the least I expected was to see her topless. Tongue

In fairness he did reply in just 15 minutes. Given more time I'm sure he could have done better. http://thegrumpiest.com/?p=%2011953
