Apparently Saints' new stadium will not now be ready until the 2012 season. Looks like they have arranged a 1 year groundshare with Widnes. Not sure how this affects St Helens Town.

Rule 2 - See rule 1.....

St Helens Town will also be groundsharing until the new ground is ready - I believe Ashton Town is the likely venue.

They'd be daft if they didn't take advantage of the situation and take the games against Warrington and Wigan to bigger venues and potential new fans.

Have they actually started building the new ground?

When I visted Knowsley Road in May, the steward who gave me an early morning tour of the ground said that building had yet to start on the new place and there was no specific start date in place at the moment. Regardless of that the keys to Knowsley Road have to be handed over on 1 January 2011. However he added that there were no plans to build on the Knowlsey Road immediately. Which got me thinking that maybe, just maybe, they'll still be there when the 2011 season starts!
