The Treble Can't Post or Reply Privately

Inter become only the sixth club to complete the treble of being European champions, domestic champions and winners of the principal domestic cup competition.

The 6 are:

  • 1967 - Celtic
  • 1972 - Ajax
  • 1988 - PSV
  • 1999 - Man Utd
  • 2009 - Barcelona
  • 2010 - Inter
One per decade?

Bayern become the first club to miss out on the treble by losing the European final (while completing the domestic double). The clubs that missed out previously lost the principal domestic cup final (despite being domestic and European champions).

Rainjar , we have had the decade debate before . A decade is any period of ten years . Not defined by starting 1960, 70 , 80 etc .

July 1, 2019 to June 30,2020 = 87 / 75 / 12 / inc 3 x 0-0's. (You know my rules) @ 14 / 10 / 2019.
2019/20. Benelux = Bel = 0-0-0-(I(MUI-I)-0-0)-(0-2-1-1)/ Lux = 0-2 / Neth = 0-0-0-(1 - 2) Others France = 0-0 / Germany =0-0-0 / Italy =0-1(Act 2- Frosinone new)./ Iberia = P = 0-0 & S = 0-0.

I'm using decade to mean any period of 10 years - roughly one for every 10 year period. :)

Essentially, on average/approximately.

1960-1969 - 1
1970-1979 - 1
1980-1989 - 1
1990 to 1999 - 1
2000-2009 - 1
2010-2019? - 1

If so, we won't have another until 2020 at the earliest. :)

Celtic also won the Scottish League Cup in 1966-7, making them the only Quadruple winners.
This feat could only be repeated in the few countries that have a league cup ie England and France.
Little chance of a Scottish Club doing it again, I would have thought!

Bayer Leverkusen should also be on the list of 'near-trebles' for their frustrating 2001-02 campaign in which they lost the European Cup final and German Cup final (having led) and finished runners-up in the Bundesliga, having had a five point lead with three to play.

Obviously no seeding in the Glasgow Cup that year as Rangers and Celtic met in the 1st Round!
I'm sure other treble winners have also won minor cups ie Charity Shield type games.
