Northern Alliance Can't Post or Reply Privately

I did search for old posts but the last list was from last season so teams may/may not issue now.

Who issues from this league then?

This season (2009/2010), the only issuer in D1 were the mighty Percy Main amateurs, who produced an edition for every home game, as well as an away cup game (v amble) & a woman's issue (v North Shields).

Free copies for anyone who contacts me by PM expressing an interest!

I have not yet attended a Northern Alliance game but will certainly consider going to Percy Main next season as there will be proper linesman for their games in the top division.

If that's a pre-requisite for you attending a game Chris, how come I've seen you on more than one occasion watching games in the Welsh League where most of the time you only get an official referee?

Welsh League Divisions 1 & 2 always have three officials. It is only in Division 3 that there are no official linesmen.

That must be a fairly recent development, I certainly don't remember seeing official assistants in Division 2 games in recent years. And of course the linesmen just do throw-ins, not offsides

Certainly in the last three or four seasons there have been three officials, and the linesmen do flag for offsides in divisions 1 & 2. In division 3 there are club linesmen, and the referees tend to look after offsides there.

I went to a Div 2 game last season where there were three "officials" but one stood in the same place talking to his mates in the dugout but the other "lino" spent the match swigging from a can and I'm not sure he was around at the end of the game............

On my recent visit to Penrhiwceiber Rangers (see 'where did you go' for Sat 15th May) there were proper linesman. Admittedly I have been to quite a few games without these but I don't mind club officials too much as long as they are allowed to give offsides and have proper flags. Having said that, I was rather disappointed at the absence of both things at Newport CS and will probably stick to the top two divisions of the Welsh League in future.
