Re: [davidf] Winchester docked 3 points [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

As a Bracknell Town fan, I obviously hope that Winchester City lose their appeal as it keeps us second bottom and with a chance of a reprieve.

I read in yesterdayís NLP that Winchester chairman or secretary John Moody is protesting their innocence and claims they will fight this all the way.

I have some sympathy if it transpires that they were given a league registration number by the Southern League, but the fact remains that the player never signed the registration from himself so technically despite not being registered at Hitchin Town, he is also not registered to play for Winchester.

The club have shot themselves in the foot making this fact public.

When we travelled to play Winchester earlier this season, myself and the Bracknell secretary turned up at 12.30pm and put all Bracknellís kit in the away changing room.

We were then told by a Winchester fan that the game was in doubt due to a waterlogged pitch. However, no club official was present and no effort had been made that day to get the pitch playable.

We instructed Winchester at 12.30pm what action could be taken to get the game playable but were ignored. At 2pm our actions were taken but the wrong sand was purchase and despite the referee and his assistants (and us Bracknell people) helping the game had to be called off at 3.10pm.

The Winchester secretary was away and had left his mate to complete the team-sheet. No advise or action regarding the pitch had been left and the acting secretary did not even know who the referee was going to be for that match.

The Winchester chairman turned up and seemed very nonplussed about the whole situation, basically he didnít care.

Speaking to some of the Winchester fans on the day, they have been let down big time by the new committee and the fans are great so itís them I really feel sorry for. Hopefully actions can be taken by them to redress the situation during the close season.

As I understand it the appeal went in at the end of last week. When it will be heard - your guess.

Any chance it will be before the start of the new season? (he says only mildly joking)

Any News?

You can see the ball go past them, or the man, but you'll never see both man and ball go past at the same time. So if the ball goes past, the man won't, or if the man goes past, they'll take the ball

Conflicting info - appeal last Thursday - apparently decision within 14 days. Today Secretary of Win City quoted in local rag that decision may not be reached until June. Who knows when it will be.

This really is a joke If they have had the meeting just announce the decision then everyone moves on

Apparently appeal was only delivered to FA on Thursday in question. According to Win City Sec in Echo the FA have not yet put together 3 man Appeal Committee so obviously another visit to Soho Square will be required.

A little bird has just told me that the fine has been reduced but the points deduction remains. Huge sighs of relief at Wordsworth Drive.

If you can understand the rather poor English the above confirms the 3 point deduction stands

Is it likely there will be repercussions for Hitchin?

1. we were found NOT GUILTY of signing John docker as we did not know he had signed for HItchin

2 we were refunded the fine we had given to us

3 we wre found GUILTY of somebody else a third party signing john dockers form so 3 pts deducted

the club were found Not guilty by the league as we did not know this had happened
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am bemused as to how a club can be found guilty for allowing someone to sign a registration form on behalf of a player for them and then found not guilty as they weren't aware this had happened.

Surely its one or the other?

With both Totton and Eling and Blackfield & Langley passing the ground grading, it looks like curtains for Hamble ASSC in the Wessex Premier then.

Winchester relegated to Wessex Premier, VT FC replace them in BGB SSW. Both Totton and Eling promoted to Wessex Premier Hamble ASSC and Horndean going in other direction. Have to wait until 21st June for confirmation though.

I wasn't aware they were seperate clubs! Tongue That'd be 4 up then, with Blackfield and Langley joining them.

They are not separate clubs - just me being a prat. Insert " and Blackfield and Langley" after Eling and its right. So two up two down.

Latest in local paper states that Win City are to appeal to the Court of Arbritation in Sport over the 3 point deduction.
Doesnt seem that they want to let this lie.
Apparently in a separate article Win City "patron" as they refer to him Paul McCarthy stated they have a 4 year plan to get into the Conference. Intends " getting 400 through the gate before the end of the season". I presume he means per game not the total attendance for the season !!!!!
