An episode of Dr Finlay's Casebook in 1965 was based around Tannochbrae United FC.

It was filmed at Alloa's Recreation Park. Following an Alloa v Dumbarton game the 'crowd' were invited to remain behind for the filming of panoramic shots etc. Some footage of the actual match was apparently included in the programme as well.

I think it was railed ?.

Talking of Shameless your namesake has had a torrid time of late.

If Frank Gallagher turned up at a Hop would he look out of place ?.

There was an episode of Casualty a few years ago where an old pro from 'Holby City FC' received a career ending injury. There was footage from a ground used.

This was before the spin- off series of the same name

Some hilarious goofs;

1) The recent TV drama about the young George Best shows an airport terminal (exterior) far too modern to have existed in the early 1960's.

2) "The Dammed United" - admittedly I haven't seen this one, but a widely used still in newspapers shows the Leeds and Liverpool teams walking out at a mocked-up 'old' Wembley for the 1974 Charity Shield. Nearly all the spectators in this photo have short hair. OK, so it's a bit hard to persuade extras to grow their hair prior to filming, but you would have thought the producers could have simply handed out wigs on set!

When the crowd invades the pitch in Escape to Victory many are wearing 1980's style cloths, not 2nd world war items.

As an aside, in many dramas set in the 1950's and 1960's if you look at the rooftops you will see UHF type TV ariels, these would not have be in use in many areas outside London until circa 1968.

Jossy's Giants (featuring Glipton Giants and rivals Glipton Grasshoppers)

My memory was that the team were originally called Grasshoppers but the team didn't like it. Jossy tried to make them aware of the European heritage of the name but failed - much sulking by Jossy followed. They then renamed themselves Jossy's Giants - jubilation all round! -

If anyone's up for a challenge, here's a ground identification query from a TV forum I frequent:
http://www.mausoleumclubforum.org.uk/...thread.php?tid=22579

Look up
'The Adventures of Portland Bill - Atmospheric Interference'
on Youtube to see the clip - there's a better picture of the ground for identification purposes just after the shot in the forum post. The football starts about 3mins 40 into the clip

Had a look, could it be a Scottish match from the early 1970's, Dumbarton / East Fife ?.

In Corrie Weatherfield Rovers(?) are a Conference team.

Ken Barlow's brother David played for Weatherfield County in the early 1960s. He was transferred to a London second division team for £1000.

He later returned to the Street and was player/manager of Weatherfield Athletic

Re: [Mishi] Fictional football on film: [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread, but I watched a bit of a film earlier this week called “Things To Do Before You’re 30”, about a boys’ team called Athletico Greenwich who grow up together and decide to quit after they’ve played 500 games, culminating in a 'high-profile' game against Deptford Dynamos.

The film was definitely shot in and around the Greenwich area, and it included several pitches of differing descriptions, although there was virttually next to no footballing action at all in the film. The last pitch shown was a strange ornate affair with chairs laid out on the terracing. Anyone know the names / locations / home teams of any of the grounds?

I also recall an episode of Casualty in the late 80s/early 90s centred around a riot breaking out between rival fans before a Holby FA Cup tie.

It was as bad as it sounds!

The only filming locations named on IMDb are London and The Isle of Man.

If it is the episode I am thinking about when some old ex-pro is injured and is refused another contract because he is always pissed, I think it was filmed at Mangotsfield United.
