Johnny Dixon the captain of the 1957 FA Cup winning team has died aged 85. He was a stylish inside forward who was not quite good enough to win an England cap although he was always seemingly on the brink of international honours.

Much missed in these parts - even Baggies supporters were lavish in their praise of Dixon - the man as well as the footballer - when news broke last night.
