From Southern Premier Cricket League Website, dated 7/11/2008

JOHN SHIPPEY
Talented former Hampshire 2nd XI and Old Tauntonians cricketer John Shippey has died, aged 68. An aggressive top order batsman, who could equally turn his hand to bowling seam and keeping wicket, John was a prominent member of the dominant OTs side of the 1960s and 1970s. He was a equally talented footballer, having won 20 England Amateur caps after leaving Southampton and playing Isthmian League soccer at Oxford City before moving to play in goal for Andover as a semi-professional in the old Western League. He played his Sunday cricket for the Southampton Touring Club and turned out latterly for New Milton, but was forced to retire from active sport due to a back injury. John Shippey's funeral is at the Bournemouth Crematorium on Friday at 11 o'clock.http://www.southernpremierleague.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=756&Itemid=1

Thanks to sonofhod for pointing me in the correct direction.

Re: [acmold] John Shippey [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

John Shippey dies aged 67 (Oxford City site).
He played in 237 competitive games for Oxford City over five seasons from 1964, keeping a clean sheet in almost a quarter of those games.
He may very well have played more matches for the England Amateur XI if his career had not overlapped with that of another great amateur goalkeeper: John Swannell of Hendon.
