Ian was captain of the great Star Hearts side that dominated Fife Amateur football in the late 60s and 70s. He led them to eight league titles and five Fife Cup wins. His greatest day was when he lifted the Scottish Amateur Cup at Hampden in 1975 - when Star Hearts became the first Fife club to win the trophy.

He played almost 500 games for the Treaton Park side before retiring in 1979.

Ian's funeral is on Thursday October 16th.
