FA Youth Cup archive? Can't Post or Reply Privately

Does anyone know where I can find archived results of the FA Youth Cup from years gone by? I'm needing dates of matches stretching right back to the very first season - 1952/53, and i'm really struggling to find anywhere.

I'm sure the Playfair Annual used to have these in the 1970s but perhaps only from the first round.

You could try FA Customer Relations if no one else if forthcoming at the bottom of this page

It is something I have been dabbling with for 20 years.

The F.A. records are incomplete

Rothmans/Sky now give complete results (but not dates) but in the early days only gave the main draw

The vast majority of matches are now in the four (preliminary, 1st, 2nd & 3rd) rounds of the qualifying competition.

The competition is now structured similarly to the F.A.Cup

93 clubs entered in 1952-3, it passed 300 in 1997-8 and last season saw 444.

355 were in qualifying (205 started with byes) with the 35 survivors joining 45 clubs exempted to Round 1

Those 80 played 2 rounds so that 20 survivors joined the 44 "big boys" in the 3rd Round.

The semi-finals and final are two legged and even had replays, sometimes two

All earlier rounds are now one offs with extra time and penalties

Finding results of early matches is difficult, the dates well nigh impossible.

Perhaps we should start a thread for each season.

As there does not appear to be an archive I have embarked on a fairly detailed one for this season, at least from the main draw onwards.

Results, dates & attendances for the qualifying rounds
Also scorers full names & goal times for the main rounds

Missing about 30 qualifying attendances f
Missing scorers, goal scorers & attendances from about 10 main matches (mostly with non-league team at home)

With the completion of the third round tomorrow gathering the later round details should be more straightforward.

I will post a list of missing details shortly.

If anyone is building up a spreadsheet with all FAYC results (something I am also interested in), I am willing to supply all results involving Southend United and Manor, Great Wakering and Hullbridge.
Some fans websites, such as Ipswich Town's www.tmwmtt.com have all their clubs results too.

Hope this helps.
