Ron Stitfall, the former Cardiff City centre-half has died in his home town at the age of 82. He belonged to that remarkable group of footballers who only played for one club and made 421 league and cup appearances. He won two caps for Wales, against England in 1952 and Czechoslovakia in 1957. He also played for the Combined Services during the war. A qualified FA coach Stitfall became trainer at Newport County in the 1970s as well as coach to the Welsh Youth team, and finally he was kit-man for the Wales senior team.
