DEREK TAPSCOTT

Died last Thursday in Cardiff after a long battle with various ageing illnesses days short of his 76th birthday. He was capped 14 times by Wales (1954-59). Played for Arsenal, Cardiff City and Newport County.
If we ever get a proper obits page then I will post in much more detail.

Wouldn't this be better placed in the Football League and/or international section? It's of more relevance there than to Non-league.

Sorry to read these obituaries. However i do think an ex-players info (where are they now type thingy, people asking and telling) with an obituary thread would be appropriate and would be of interest and a help to many fans. For years I've been trying to find out about an ex Spurs player (before the war), called Sid Giddens who was briefly manager of Colwyn Bay in the 1930's. I've looked into Spurs history from that period but can't find him.

bayfan - I am good friends with the Spurs official historian. Would you like me to ask him about Sid Giddens on your behalf?

There is a good obituary in The Guardian for last Friday. Written by Brian Glanville its adds a bit more than usual obituaries in that Glanville knew him personally and his comments reflect this.

Re: [John McMaster] Obituary Number 3 [In reply to] Can't Post or

Sorry for very late post here - just spotted the thread.

I'll always remember "Tappy", especially as he scored the first goal I ever saw Arsenal score.

Sad he's gone :(
