Heavily dependent on money (as we steadily approach the festive period again), but I'm hoping to be able to afford to head into London to tick the Terence McMillan before it's no longer used for football after this season, which will see me watching the Eastern Senior League Division 1 South game: Fire United vs Benfleet.

If that game ends up being postponed, but I'm still able to head into London, I have a few back-ups in place:

Barking vs Bowers & Pitsea (Isthmian League Division 1 North)
Cockfosters vs Edgware Town (Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division)
Northwood vs Chalfont St Peter (Isthmian League Division 1 South Central)
Redbridge vs Chertsey Town (FA Vase 3rd Round)

The FA Vase easily the pick of the back-ups, but always good to be prepared

First and only visit of the calendar year to the faraway in-laws (a result, certainly) will see me ticking off another ground in the vicinity of Farnham.

Choice of grounds unticked over a decade's treks down there:

Hartley Wintney v Chesham United (Southern League something-or-other). Are the Row still issuing a print version of their programme?
Guildford City v Cobham (Co-Co Prem)
Ash United v Sandhurst Town (Co-Co One)
Alton v New Milton Town (Wessex One). The plastic could prove useful if it's wintry
Petersfield Town v Andover Town (Wessex One)

Might be tempted (if there's a programme) by London & SE Premier RU at Guildford, who're playing Bedford Athletic.

Thanks, Andy. If it's not our turn for Christmas in Farnham, my wife and I usually go down the first weekend in December because it's the closest to her dad's birthday. This is the first time either Hartley Wintney and/or Petersfield Town have been at home in a decade of visits. Two grounds I really fancy doing. I went to the old Alton Town ground (on a previous Christmas visit). I gather from WDYG reports, Alton's new one is much better than one would imagine.

I went to Alton last week and was very impressed - ground much better than expected and a friendly welcome from all at the club. Hartley Wintney still do a few paper progs, I believe - like you, I've still not made it. Really liked Petersfield as well.

A reminder that Guildford are sharing at Godalming for the rest of this season and, if there's a fixture clash between the two, City will use another (as yet unspecified) team's ground instead. Details at https://guildfordcityfc.co.uk/.../06/spectrum-update/

Oh, that's good info, Paul. Didn't realise Guildford weren't at The Spectrum. I'll strike them off the list. I did Godalming Town a few years ago, on a previous Christmas visit to the in-laws, three of whom we dragged along with us. A 2-2 draw with Fleet Town, IIRC.

Not sure whether the first game will go ahead as Huncote Res had to forefit their cup game yesterday (24th). This was due to (I think) five players being drafted into the 1st team squad.

Halifax to Salford will be tight but plenty of time to get to Wrexham from Manchester.

More chance of knitting soup than seeing the referees blow both whistles. You'll not be able to park within 10 minutes walk of Salford 3pm. If you do, there's every chance you'll have to rescue your car from the police compound before heading to Wrexham. Is there not something closer to Halifax?

TGE Dieppe Bay Eagles v Molineux Pitbulls.

I like the idea of Bath better, as that is the one on Nevis, but I have been warned Newton do not always turn up to games on St. Kitts, let alone Nevis.

Then possibly on to Warner Park to see one or both of
Garden Hotspurs v Old Road Jets United
Village Superstars v St Pauls United

Change of plans. With neither Fire United or Benfleet updating their Twitter very often, I'm not going to risk it this weekend as there's no real point. Instead, I have a new first choice:

Bridon Ropes vs Hashtag United (London Senior Trophy 2nd Round)

Will be interesting to see what's going on with Hashtag after the controversy their placement in the pyramid created in the summer. If that falls to the weather, the original back-ups remain as such, with the FA Vase game being top priority of the back-up options.

Looking at a National League/FA Cup treble:

Halifax Town v AFC Wimbledon at 12:30, Salford City v Havant & Waterlooville at 3:00 and then Wrexham v Newport County at 8pm.

Prestwich Heys, Chadderton, Campion and Liversedge all at home and nearer options than Salford City. Steeton also nearer but may take longer as you have to go through the centre of Halifax and the A629 to Keighley not the quickest of roads. Huddersfield eggchasers also home at 3pm less than 10 miles from Halifax but you could get stuck in football traffic on the way to Lockwood Park as Huddersfield Town are at home to Brighton the same afternoon.

Ash United v Sandhurst Town (Co-Co One)
Alton v New Milton Town (Wessex One). The plastic could prove useful if it's wintry
Petersfield Town v Andover Town (Wessex One)

Might be tempted (if there's a programme) by London & SE Premier RU at Guildford, who're playing Bedford Athletic.

Hartley Wintney tell me it's a digital-only prog on Saturday owing to the threat of rain and a postponement. In ordinary circs, they still do a small number of 'physical' progs. In light of the weather, it's looking increasingly like either the Alton plastic or the RU at Guildford.

DEVON & EXETER LGE PREM DIV: UPOTTERY v COLYTON

Morning duties at DCH once again, but nothing new that grabs my attention in deepest Darzet. If I can get away by 1pm, I should be able to drive west & get to Glebe Park in time for kick off. Weather gods will have the final say however.

I asked the SKN Football Association if the had a contact number for Newton. They did not help, but told me that they were confident the team would not make it to Nevis. The coach of Trafalgar Southstars concurs, so it looks like I will be on the bus to Dieppe Bay.

Currently on antibiotics & feeling a bit cream crackered so my choices at step 6 & above will be a drive too far + I think an early KO may be advisable.

Favourite is a dip into the unknown for a team I missed in their Hellenic days.....

High Wycombe senior cup Q/F. Prestwood v Chalfont Wasps 13.30 at Honor End Lane

Back up at Stokenchurch or perhaps Taplow but both have ressie opposition in Hellenic div 2 east.

London now out of the question, so will instead be either at:

Lingfield vs Saltdean United (Southern Combination League Premier Division)

or

Dorking Wanderers vs Tonbridge Angels (Isthmian League Premier Division)

Depends how bad the weather ends up being tomorrow really

Despite a lot of overnight rain, the Devon cup tie between Braunton and St. Martins at Lobb Field is ON so I'll be aiming for that one.
