Useful, but sadly not complete, particularly when it was known as the Wirral League, where some of the lower leagues are missing; also a lot of the teams that had records expunged are also missing.

If they've had their records expunged you would expect them to be missing.

Re: [paulh66] West Cheshire League tables 1892 to date or Reply Privately

paul,

i very much appreciate this link, not your fault it's not complete;) it's great that someone has gone to the time and effort to put this together in excel format and is a valuable cross reference for those of us fortunate enough to have many of these tables already. for those unaware, the years between 1919 and 1939 are much sought after, very difficult to get hold of. i believe the league was disbanded for 4 years from 1928 so there'll never be a complete set of tables for this period. i recently stumbled upon a "partial" table for the season 1920-21; some of you might appreciate my excitement at finding this... others will merely wonder what colour my anorak is Wink

here it is...

Table @ December 18th (points only) (Ellesmere Port eventually won the league)...

1 Garston Gasworks 18
2 Grayson's Garston 18
3 North Liverpool 18
4 Ellesmere Port 16
5 Runcorn 14
6 Buckley United 11
7 West Kirby 9
8 Bebington 9
9 Ellesmere Port CW 7
10 Harrowby 7
11 Port Sunlight 7
12 Prescot Wire Works 7
13 Wirral Railway 4
14 Hoylake 3

i have a few other tables between the wars, not the full set... however, i believe the above may be of use to many of you missing it.

once again, cheers paul for making the effort to share Smile

I totally agree, better a firm base to work from than nothing at all.

They've certainly been worked on since the last version I downloaded a couple of years ago, several tables that didn't balance have now been balanced.

The league's "100 Years History Centenary Brochure" gives the 1928 champions as Ellesmere Port and Neston Brickworks in 1929. The league joined with the North Wales clubs in 1930 to form the North Wales Combination aka the Football Combination but the only clubs from over the border were Ellesmere Port and New Brighton Reserves. The 1930-31 season was the only one to feature clubs from Cheshire. According to the Centenary Brochure "a meeting takes place on 16th April 1934 at which Ellesmere Port, Shell Mex, Heswall, West Kirkby and Brookvale are in attendance. The hon secretary Richard Hughes advises that the meeting had been called at the request of Ellesmere Port who wished a resolution to be passed calling on all Wirral clubs to revive the West Cheshire League." "At a further meeting in May the aforementioned clubs, together with Bromborough Port, Little Sutton and Bebington agree to re-form the West Cheshire League"

The 1892 to date tables were reposted on the West Cheshire League Fulltime site a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if they're an update to, or just a reproduction of, the originals per my opening post (the link to which is know obsolete) but here they are: https://resources.thefa.com/...gue9014877/38540.xls

Link in #8 works fine here. As mentioned, the document is also accessible from the league website on Fulltime (front page of old version, don't know about new version).
