Please find attached the current scores. Don't expect them so quickly every week, but we played last night this weekend!

Please let me know of any transcription errors from the entry posts to the 'Original Entries' tab.

It's avery early days, but starting off best are vienna1964 and spgrey (14), with SimonG third (12).

Still stuck on the blocks (well in fact some way behind them at the moment) are modelhobbies, northstandexile and Hawkwind (all -8)

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Still very early, with a few clubs not having played yet, but I have updated with Saturday's new tables.

Bomaya gained 39 points, Gavin 38 and Hawkwind 37 this week, whilst previously equal first spgrey lost 7 points, tjathome 4points and SimonG 1.

Overall, that leaves Tomschman out in front on 47, Felix with 45 and Pat B 39. Bringing up the rear are tjathome (-4), Jon M (2), TP (4).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Every team has now played at least 2 games, with tables changing very quickly - Cambridge City and Sittingbourne moving from relegation places into the points winning positions for instance.

This week's big improvers were Doody with 34 pts, myself with 31 and tjathome with 30. Bomaya's stellar week last week did not last, losing 19 points, with Gavin losing 13 and Tomschman 10.

Overall, that leaves myself Blush tied out in front with Doody with 59, with Zebedee and Felix on 51. Down at the bottom Jon M has now gone last with 14, RRYFS has 15 and East Fork Utd 16. It's not a fix, honest!!!

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or

Just out of interest, I have been emulating this game with a single change to the scoring system... expressing the final scores as a percentage of won points versus possible points for all teams selected.

This will also work for Cup results, so will continue when Cups are going.

One thing however - is that Sarumio does not appear to have an FA Cup entry registered... so if you could do that Saru~ ???

Doody 0.669 oftenscore6 0.657 Felix 0.644 Football Man 0.644 Tweety 0.632 Zebedee 0.613 Pat B 0.606 Hawkwind 0.604 howaythebay 0.593 spgrey 0.590 davy c 0.586 mnewz 0.586 SparkyRebel 0.574 Vienna1964 0.567 TP 0.565 MadMick 0.563 fishy 0.553 Bendrix 0.551 Tomschman 0.551 Darren Lovell 0.549 Jamesie 0.544 Sandhurstbee 0.544 Bomaya 0.542 Gavin 0.532 modelhobbies 0.521 Chrisby 0.521 SimonG 0.521 Gray 0.519 Sarumio 0.512 StokePriorAndy 0.491 tjathome 0.488 HarryC 0.470 Jon M 0.458 Northstandexile 0.456 RRYFS 0.421 East Fork Utd 0.419

I'll update from time to time, so you may see how well your teams are doing !

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

With the bank holiday games, last weekend and midweek matches, there have been quite a few changes. Some of those tipped for success have slipped into the relegation zone - Cammell Laird, Oxford City, Uxbridge and Crowborough Athletic; other highly fancied sides are not scoring anything yet - AFC Telford United, Torquay United, Boston United, Curzon Ashton and Fleet Town.

This week's big improvers are Darren Lovell and Tweety with +8, with Pat B and Sandhurst Bee gaining 6. Doody's large gain last week did not last, with him and Jamesie both losing 14 and Bendrix 13.

Pat B has moved up to first with 50, 2 pts ahead of myself with Tweety 2 further back. East Fork Utd remains 3rd from bottom with 14, with Bendrix (13) replacing RRYFS in 2nd last and Jon M dropping further behind (4).

Look, you clearly have not understood how the scoring system works - all organisers and previous organisers are automatically exempt from appearing in the relegation spots with other entrants being penalised sufficiently in a somewhat random fashion in order for this to be the case (just think Altrincham & you'll get the idea)...

Re: [Jon M] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Sorry Jon, I didn't appreciate that nuance.CrazyBlush

Consequently Oxford City have been awarded a 16 point 'previous organiser compensation' - you being the only participant having selected Oxford City Wink. It may be subject to appeal however.....

The biggest improvers this week are Sparky Rebel with a 15 point gain - East Thurrock going top the main helper; Darren Lovell following up last week's improvement with 11pts and Bomaya rebounding with 10 pts. Losers this week are modelhobbies (-6), Tomschman (-2) and mnewz (-1).

Overall there isn't much change at either end - the top 2 are the same (58/53), with Felix moving back into the 3rd spot (52) just ahead of Tweety (49). At the bottom, courtesy of Oxford City getting the 16 pt bonus, Jon is just into 4th last (22), with RRYFS (21), Bendrix (17) and East Fork Utd (14).

Both the teams competing in the opening Vase round came through - New Mills (me); and East Fork Utd's Bodmin Town Smile

Re: [East Fork Utd] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This week's club movers were Fisher Athletic and Ossett Albion gaining 5 and 6 points, whilst Newcastle Blue Star and Rushall Olympic slipped off top spots and Margate slid into the relegation spots.

That has been most productive for Sandhurstbee (+12), Bomaya (+11) and MadMick (+10). FootballMan was the biggest loser (-7), followed by Zebedee (-5) and Doody (-3).

At the foot, the bottom 3 are the same; Pat B has extended his lead to 7 and Vienna1964 is back into 3rd, level on points with SparkyRebel.

Jon M's Oxford City compensation has grown to +19 points.Tongue

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This weekend's biggest points changes were Bamber Bridge going top of NP1N and moves out of the relegation spots for Merthyr Tydfil, Uxbridge, Dartford and Margate. Slipping down were Newport County, Stocksbridge PS and East Thurrock United.

Those benefitting this week were RRYFS (+10), Jamesie (+9) and mnewz (+8). The biggest loser this week was me Blush (-15) suffering due to East Thurrock United, AFC Wimbledon and Bradford Park Avenue slippages. I was followed by spgrey (-13), Bomaya (-10) and tomschman (-10).

PatB (56) still has 1st place, though the gap is now only 2 points to DarrenLovell and Tweety (54). At the foot, modelhobbies has slipped into 3rd last (23), Bendrix (21)and East Fork Utd (9). Jon M's Oxford City comp is down to +18.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

With the FA Cup continuing, some leagues only had partial fixtures this weekend, though several had midweek fixtures also. Truro's FA Cup progress has allowed Beaconsfield SYCOB and Cinderford Town to overtake them, for example. Other teams slipping down were Cambridge United, Newcastle Blue Star, Skelmersdale United and Tonbridge Angels. Big movers up into point scoring positions were Burton Albion (to 4th), AFC Sudbury (to 3rd) and Lancaster City moved from 8th to 3rd. Crowborough Athletic's midweek win lifted them out of the relegation spots, benefitting davy c by 5 points.

Tomschman (+14) and Bomaya (+12) have both more than recovered the points lost last week, followed by a welcome +10 for East Fork Utd, thanks to Burton, Sittingbourne and Curzon Ashton all improving. Suffering this week were howaythebay (-15), Jamesie and FootballMan (-9). 7 of howaythebay's team's tips slipped back this week, most by only a place or 2, but it all adds up. Jamesie's score includes a correction of -1 as I had missed Blush his FA Cup tip of Leamington, who went out in the 1st qualifying round. Also out of the FA Cup is modelhobbies tip of Fisher Athletic, but all Vase tips are still in.

In the overall positions, Tweety (54) is now in 1st place, level on points with PatB, with Vienna1964 in 3rd (50). East Fork's good score has moved him up off the bottom, with Bendrix replacing him and Harry C replacing modelhobbies in the releagtion spots. Jon M's Oxford City comp is now only +12!

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or

Often~ could you possibly consider slightly altering the scoring system so that League positions are calculated on a ppg basis rather than on the current (and usual) 'sheer number of points' basis ?

I believe that doing so would 'validate' your scoring system for the game in a much more realistic manner than the early season vagaries of differing numbers of games played presently allows.

It would not be a really large amount of extra work, all things considered as once an Excel document be set up so that it can calculate ppg's, each League table may then simply be copy/pasted into it so that the calcs work, then be re-ordered... and Bob's yer Uncle !
If in that Excel document, you allow nine rows (for team name, games played, won, drawn, lost, goals for, goals against, goal differencxe, points), the tenth row may be pre-set with the ppg calculation and at outset this may be copied all the way down the page.
Once you'd exhausted the information required to toy up points for the game from each division, you'd simply delete the top 25 or sow rows and start afresh on the next division. Alternatively, you could just as easily simply overwrite one division with the next, once the info. has been used.

Some folks might feel slightly (dis) advantaged by the change-over, however I think this could really be easily justified - as we'd be moving onto a presentation which would much more closely reflect the variant team achievement-strengths at each moment than the basic model we are already using does.

Re: [vienna1964] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

It is an interesting suggestion, but I think we should leave it as is until the end of season and then everyone can comment on it, and any other suggestions for improvment.

The attached update is up to the weekend only, I just haven't had net access to upload until today.

On the club side, Woking and Newport County moved out of the relegation spots, but Margate and Crowborough slipped back in. At the top end, Newcastle Blue Star moved up from 8th to 3rd and Cambridge Utd, Redbridge and East Thurrock Utd improved a few points too.

Those moves have helped East Fork Utd move up the most points this week with +9, with StokePriorAndy up 8 and myself, Bendrix and harryc up 7. The week's biggest slip was a no contest with davyc down 11 points, hit by Crowborough's slip into the bottom 2 and Halesowen being overtaken. 2nd worst was Bomaya (-5) and then Gavin (-4). Bomaya has hardly spent a week without a mention, either as an improver or faller!

Overall, Darren Lovell (54) is the new leader, equal on points with Pat B, with Tweety in 3rd, 1 pt back. Felix and Vienna1964 are also within 5 of the lead. East Fork is out of the bottom 3, with tjathome sliding into last (22), chasing Bendrix (25) and FootballMan (26).

No-one had any teams in action in the FA Trophy Prelim; but 2 tippers lost their Vase entrants - myself (New Mills) and East Fork Utd's (Bodmin Town).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Cup action again this weekend, but no tips were involved. Conference Nth & Sth had so few games as a result that there was no change to points in either.

The big club movers this week were Margate (Zebedee) and Oxford City (Jon M) moving out of the relegation spots and Rushall Olympic's 2 wins putting them top of NP1S (good for FootballMan). Also moving up 3 or 4 pts were Cambridge Utd, Hednesford Town, Marine, Newcastle Blue Star and Met Police. Moving down 3/4 pts were Burton Albion, Bamber Bridge and Hemel Hempstead.

For tippers, what the Lord giveth one week, he took back this week. East Fork lost all the points gained last week, plus one more (-10), followed by SandhurstBee (-8) and Chrisby (-4). After losing -15 2 weeks ago, howaythebay top scored with +11 - some consolation for Whitley Bay's Cup exit. FootballMan followed him with +10 and Jamesie recovered +6 of points lost 3 weeks ago. Bomaya had an unsually quiet week this week (-3)!

Overall, it has been a good week for Darren Lovell - a Maidstone win coupled with moving 2 points clear (55) of vienna1964 (53) and Pat B (53). At the foot, East Fork Utd slips back to last (18), then tjathome (25) and Bendrix improving to 27. Jon M's comp is currently +16 Tongue

Re: [vienna1964] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Most leagues had a game this week, even if most step 3 and 4 teams were playing in the FA Trophy this weekend. Only I FA Trophy tip was playing though and I am pleased to say Bendrix is still in with a shot, as he tipped FCUM Cool. We made him sweat though, only scoring the winner with virtually the last kick of the game!

On the club front, the most significant moves were Cammell Laird moving out of the relegation spots, with Buxton replacing them. MadMick gained the most points this week, with +8 (thanks to Torquay and Ossett Albion's improvements), with PatB and spgrey picking up +6 each. It was a bad week for Gray and RRYFS with both dropping 7pts and mnewz 5. Just when I thought Bomaya had a quiet week, I introduced previous positions and guess who has moved up from 28th to 18th! Spgrey moved up the most, 11 places from 26th to 15th, RRYFS moving the most places in the other direction, down 11 from 16th to 27th.

Overall, PatB's good week took him back to the top with 59, followed by Darren Lovell (56) and Tweety (53). At the bottom, East Fork Utd has Buxton, so has slipped back to 16, chasing tjathome (25) and Gray (26) who slipped 10 places to become 3rd last.

EDIT: Jon M's Oxford City comp is now +14....

Unfortunately entries have closed for this season - they do so just before the 1st match as this game is only about end-of-season positions. If I allowed another entry now, you would have quite an advantage over the other competitors. There are other prediction competitions which operate on a per match basis, so are probably still open to new competitors, some of which are in other threads of this forum. You are most welcome to enter this competition next season - look out for it over the summer, entries will open well before the new season.

For anyone who does not have Excel, attached is a web page format of the current standings. This is the first time I've tried it, so I hope it works OK!

One thing that I have noticed which was in last years game, but not this one, is that there is no favourites selection. Would this be something that you'd consider adding to this seasons game?

Re: [T P] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

T P - I have included the number of people who tipped each team on the club scores page. Is that what you mean? In any case, I will do a brief summary of how each of the most-tipped teams are doing:-

Torquay Utd - 5th - after a poor start, doing well recently; AFC Telford Utd - 5th, been thereabouts most of the season; Bath City & Havant & Waterlooville - neither troubling the scorers much so far; Boston United - similarly mid-table (0 pts) to date; Curzon Ashton - just dropped out of the top 8 due to continuing Cup run; Sheffield - not been in the top 8 since the first few weeks, but have many games in hand; Cambridge City - poor start, but running much better now; Leamington - perfect 10 and look to be breezing it; Truro City - 2nd but with games in hand, looking comfortable; Staines Town - 2nd behind an also well-tipped Dover; Ware - been in the points all season, currently 4th; Fleet Town - poor start, but now not far off the play-offs; not much to say on either the Vase or Trophy where both favourites have not started yet; FA Cup Wrexham only drew at home to 2-steps lower Eastwood Town.

Big club movers this week were Buxton and Crowborough moving out of the bottom 3 - but Fisher Athletic & Ramsgate have dropped back into it. Halesowen and Halifax both made big moves into the top 8, as did Merthyr Tydfil after a poor start to the season; Farborough and Rushall Olympic both dropped off top spots.

The effect on tippers was davy c gained the most (+13), followed by Tweety (+12). Jamesie also gained +7, whilst in the other direction, you guessed it, Bomaya lost the most (-7), along with East Fork - not what you want when you are bottom already... Gray and RRYFS both lost -6. Position changes followed these with davyc and Bomaya leading the way - davyc gaining 14 places.

Overall, Tweety's great week sees a realignment of the top 3, with him moving into 1st (65), with Pat B (62) and Darren Lovell (54) following. Felix and Vienna have been just behind those for a while but it's now MadMick and SparkyRebel instead. Down at the wrong end, a change of management would not help East Fork Utd (9) whilst Gray (20) and RRYFS (23)have had a very bad fortnight. For the 1st time since the 2nd week, Jon M would not have been bottom without the compensation, which is now down to only +5.

In the FA Cup, there are a number of replays, but RRYFS, SimonG, PatB, JonM and StokePriorAndy have no further concerns in this area.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Sorry, what I meant was adding another competitor to the game called Faves or favourites, bringing the number of players up to 37. This player would be based on the collated efforts of everyone who has entered the game, so would have the selections of:
Conf - Torquay United
Conf N - AFC Telford United
Conf S - Havant & Waterlooville
NPP - Boston United
NP1N - Curzon Ashton
NP1S - Sheffield
SLP - Cambridge City
S1M - Leamington
S1SW - Truro City
IP - Staines Town
IN - Ware
IS - Fleet Town
FAT - Wrexham
FAV - Whitley Bay
FAC - Oxford United

With these selections, (The most selected teams from each division/cup, sticking by your original rule of not selecting the same side twice), the favourites competitor would have a current score of 40 leaving them in 21st place.

However, as this "competitor" would be entering the game late, you may not wish to add it to the game.

However as your the one running the game, its totally up to you.

Anyway keep up the good work!

Re: [T P] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

OK T P, I have added that for next week, but I have made it Stevenage in the Trophy and Wrexham in the Cup, as that is a greater total number of tips (for the benefit of others, T P had already noted that Wrexham are the most selected for both the Fa Trophy and Fa Cup). The overall score is the same (40), so that will appear as the 1st 'previous score' for Favourites.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Midweek saw a number of Cup replays, some of which did not go so well for tipped teams. I lost York City, Hawkwind lost Woking and several people were affected by Wrexham's upset defeat to Eastwood Town.

In the FA Trophy, only one tipped team were playing and I was on first hand to see FC United comfortably through to the next round.Cool

Club wise, Crowborough and Buxton returned to the relegation places, but were also joined by Witton Albion (who like Buxton were in the playoffs last year). The biggest movers up were Torquay United, Maidstone United and Tonbridge Angels.

Score wise SandhurstBee gained the most (+9, up from 18th to 8th) thanks to Torquay and general 1-2 point improvements from a few selections. Gray gained a welcome +6, as did Pat B. Slipping up most were Felix (down 7th to 17th) and FootballMan (25th to 32nd), both with -6, thanks mostly to Witton and Cambridge United moving downwards respectively. TP, Vienna and East Fork Utd all lost 5 points too.

Overall, Tweety still leads but is joined on 68 by PatB and MadMick makes his 1st appearance in the top 3 with 57. Down at the foot, East Fork Utd (4) are looking like Brigg Town, somewhat adrift from the rest. Tjathome slips back into 2nd last and RRYFS stays 3rd last.

Sorry, I haven't sorted out the web page option yet.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

I have decided I am going to feature one division each time, hopefully one with a bit of change and everyone can see the impact of that league on the points.

This week, I am featuring Isthmian 1 South. The most popular tip was Fleet Town, transfers from SL1SW. After a slow start, they are now pushing for a play-off spot, and this weekend gained a surprising 4-0 win away at (2nd favourites and) promotion contenders Cray Wanderers - Cray themselves having won 6-1 at Chipstead in midweek. Third most tipped were Kingstonian (by Gavin, Jamesie, hawkwind and mnewz), who are well clear at the moment and got a decent win at the weekend at strugglers Whitstable Town. Fourth most tipped were Folkestone Invicta, relegated from the ILP last year. This weekend they surprisingly lost at home 2-0 to strugglers Crowborough Athletic and slipped 1 place to 4th. Of the rest, Met Police are having a very good year football wise at least, even if the Menezes inquest is not going so well Blush . Dulwich Hamlet had 2 good wins this week (but Mishi has not entered this yearUnsure). One of the prominent movers this week was Worthing (tipped by Gray and Bendrix), who got 2 good 3-1 away wins, at Kingstonian and strugglers Walton Casuals. Tipped sides Sittingbourne (drew 1-1) and Merstham (no game) slipped though. Ashford Town, Eastbourne Town and Leatherhead are all single-person tips in mid-table. The only tip really struggling have been Crowborough Athletic (davy c) who came up last year, but got an excellent win at the weekend (see above).

A few FA Cup losses leave just 5 teams in the FA Cup - 2 through to the 2nd round already (Torquay and Kidderminster), 2 in replays (Grays and Oxford Utd) plus Forest Green (yet to play)

Overall, Burton Albion and FC Halifax Town took advantage of of other teams' other games to go top, whilst Buxton had 2 welcome wins to move out of the drop zone aswell as Crowborough mentioned above. Gloucester City and Ossett Albion both had significant slips, whilst, as TonyK has not included the 10 point Margate penalty, I haven't yet. But Zebedee (who tipped Margate) should expect the worst next week, from what I understand.

This week, the best points increases were all for tippers at the wrong end of the table, with welcome 10 point increase coming for Gray, East Fork Utd and tjathome. Tjathome moved up from 36th to 25th, whilst Gray was up 10 places and Chrisby up 7. Sandhurstbee erased all last week's gains (-9, 8th to 19th) and howaythebay slipped (-9, 5th to 15th), as did MadMick (-8, 3rd to 6th).

Tweety stays top of the tree (64), despite losing a few points, as PatB (62) lost a couple more, but is still very well placed. StokePriorAndy, despite a poor season so far for Bromsgrove, has moved into the top 3 (56). At the foot, East Fork Utd (14) still has a way to go to move out of bottom spot, despite a 10 pt increase. RRYFS is 2nd bottom (27), whilst FootballMan, Sarumio and Jon M (inc +3 compensation) all have 28. No significant news on Bomaya now for 2 weeks runningAngelic

Thanks again to oftenscore6 for keeping us abreast of the latest developments in this gripping competition Cool! Hopefully, my teams will start making a move so I can at least be more competitive by New Year's Day. Right now, I feel like Fulham does each year! Ramsgate and Buxton are really weighing me down, but based on last year's results, I would have thought them to be logical picks--just goes to show what I know!

I know what you mean - my results are going very well in Vienna's League, pretty useless in the IPredict one and apparently going the wrong way on this one. I still have high hopes of several of my picks though - there are some with games in hand, and others beginning to pick up - I think Chatham may have been a mistake though! Incidentally, does anyone fancy a similar competition for Step 5 Leagues for next season?

Witton's my stumbling block at the moment. Two seasons in the playoffs, now bottom!!! Anyway I'd certainly be up for an attempt at predicting the step 5 champions. Hopefully I'd be higher placed in that then i am currently in all the other prediction games!

Re: [T P] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

I would be up for predicting step 5 too, either separately or by including in this. I will run some polls at the end of the season.

This week the biggest changes have been in SL1SW. Windsor & Eton (tipped by East Fork Utd) recorded two wins to go top. Uxbridge (tipped by RRYFS) also recorded two impressive wins, twice coming from behind to beat Didcot Town 3-2 and following it up with a 5-2 win. Uxbridge are still mid-table though! Truro City, the most popular tip, stay third, having won away at the untipped Cinderford (2nd) in midweek. Didcot Town (2nd most tipped) also recorded a 1-1 draw at Bridgwater Town, slipping from 2nd to 6th. That draw was enough for Bridgwater (tipped by 4) to move ahead of Paulton Rovers (FootballMan) into 7th, who lost 2-0 to Abingdon Utd in their only game. The other tipped side scoring points are AFC Totton (Bomaya), also with 2 wins, moving up to 4th. The other tipped side are Cirencester Town (modelhobbies), defeated 3-1 by Windsor & Eton on Saturday.

On the club side, Windsor & Eton were the biggest movers, but Ware also went top after 2 wins and Fisher moved out of the Conf Sth relegation spots. Moving down, Crowbrough are back in the bottom 2 and Oxford City slip back into a relegation place after a while out of them. Boston United, heavily tipped, also slipped into the relegation spots this week.

After 3 weeks of quiet anonymity, Bomaya returned to the big movers with a 15 point gain and a massive 18 places gain, from 32nd to 14th, thanks to Ware, Durham City and Fisher. Both the other 2 big movers up also tipped Ware, Chrisby (+12, 14th to 3rd)) and PatB (+11, 2nd to 1st). Just when Jon M indicated to me that he wished to forego the rule on organisers not being in the bottom 3 (see above posts), he then popped up with a -7 scoreShocked. Gavin (10th to 19th) and mnewz (9th to 17th) also lost 6 pts each.

Overall, PatB is back in front (73) and now has a 7 point lead over Tweety (66). Chrisby moves into the top 3 for the first time (56), whilst at the other end, Jon M slips to the foot (18), behind East Fork Utd (20) and Bendrix (26).

Other than Pat B, pretty much everyone has an Achilles heel in their picks - for me Sheffield FC are showing no sign of getting in the points despite a good year last year!

Re: [Jamesie] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Seems like the Sheffield players really took that to heart, Jamesie, given this weekend's result against Brigg Town.Unsure

This week I am focusing on the ILP (I was going to do the SLP, but it keeps crashing when I go to the results page). Despite a defeat to mid-table Sutton United (JonM), Dover (a promotee) are well clear - something Gavin, MadMick, HarryC, PatB, StokePriorAndy and SparkyRebel will be very happy about! Away wins at promotion contenders Maidstone, and also at Harlow have moved the unfancied Carshalton into 2nd above the most popular pick, Staines Town, who only had a midweek game (won). FootballMan (alone) picked Tonbridge Angels, currently in 4th, who won in midweek and drew against the lowly Harrow Borough on the weekend. Gray's tip, promoted Maidstone United, are also in the top 8, with the midweek defeat followed by a home win on Saturday. 2nd most popular pick are Dartford, also a promotee, but not doing so well, and suffering a midweek defeat at Tonbridge this week. Other tips, Boreham Wood (fishy) slipped to 2 defeats, whilst AFC Hornchurch (3 tips) are comfortably mid-table. Struggling near the foot are Margate (Zebedee) - who won this week at Hendon but seem to be set for an administration penalty) and Ramsgate (East Fork Utd and Felix) - now 2nd bottom but having not played this week.

Top improvers this week on the club scene were Oxford City, moving back out of the relegation spots; and Truro City and Didcot Town who moved up to 1st and 2nd in SL1SW. Slipping down though are Windsor & Eton (SL1SW) and Brackley (SLP); also Burton and Leamington slipped off top spots to 2nd and Redbridge and Hemel Hempstead slipped out of the 8 from good positions last week.

The club movers this week proved a great boon for JonM (+13) thanks to Hampton & Richmond, Oxford City and Didcot Town - and hardly anybody else (next best was +5); downwards, East Fork Utd was (-11), with Sarumio (-6) and Chrisby (-5). Get polishing the wooden spoon, East Fork!

Overall, Pat B is still in front (73), but Tweety moved 5 points closer (71) and StokePriorAndy moved in to 3rd - I'm sure he would prefer a 3rd position for Bromsgrove instead though! Down at the foot, JonM (31) has moved out of the relegation places! East Fork brings up the rear (9); followed by Sarumio (25), making his first relegation spot appearance; and RRYS (28).

I forgot to mention the Vase exits last week - Consett, Dawlish Town, Formby, Poole Town and Wellingborough. VTFC came through a replay and Oxford Utd came through their FA Cup replay, though it took extra time to get past Dorchester.

Re: [Jamesie] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This week, I am going to focus on Conference South.

Chelmsford City (DarrenLovell, PatB, Felix) extended their lead to 7 points with a good 1-0 away win at Worcester City. Draws between top 8 sides Hayes & Yeading and Team Bath (both unselected by any tippers); and AFC Wimbledon and Hampton & Richmond (both picked by 5 sides) assisted in this lead increase, whilst keeping the race behind very tight. Eastleigh (RRYFS) picked up a good away win at Team Bath midweek and a home win v H&W today to move up to 3rd. Also making up the 8 are the untipped Maidenhead United and Welling United. Bath City (tipped by 7) have been steadily improving and got a good win v Maidenhead Utd this week, but other picks have been struggling to meet expectations: Havant & Waterlooville (favourites with 8 tips), Newport County (5 tips) 1-0 losers to Bishops Stortford this week and only 2 points above the relegation spots and Fisher Athletic, broke by all accounts and losers at home to bottom side Bognor Regis Town, but tipped by Bomaya and SandhurstBeeShocked.

On the club front Eastleigh and Fisher topped the big movers, up and down respectively.

In the FA Cup, Kiddie, Torquay and Forest Green have all progressed to the 3rd round - Grays and Oxford went out today. Sadly FC United slipped out of the Trophy in midweekFrown.

The biggest movers were RRYFS up 11, mostly thanks to Eastleigh, MadMick and SandhurstBee (both +9). Slipping up were spgrey (-8), Jamesie (-7) and Northstandexile (-5). None of those are significantly attributable to a single club. RRYS also picked up the biggest rise in the table, followed by Davyc. Overall, this week had little inpact.

Overall, Tweety (74) takes a 1pt lead (over PatB (73); 19 points behind that is Chrisby (54). East Fork remains bottom, Bendrix now 2nd to foot (26) and Sarumio in the bottom 3 (27).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

It's the turn of Conference North this week...

Only 6 teams were tipped, the fewest of all the divisions. AFC Telford United (20) were the most tipped side (in the league, as Torquay exceed that if you include the Cup comps too). By far the biggest Conference North crowd of the season (3558, over 1500 above the previous highest) saw AFC Telford Utd face top placed Southport (tipped by 9) and win 1-0. The win moved Telford up to 3rd, whilst Southport were overtaken at the top due to the untipped Tamworth's win over lowly Solihull Moors. 4th and 5th places in the division are the untipped Harrogate Town (losers 2-1 at Droylesden) and Hinckley United (4-0 at home to bottom side Hucknall). Harrogate Town were strong last year and kept up with Kettering for a fair part of the season, whilst Hinckley United struggled for most of last season but are in the play-off positions this year. 3rd most tipped are Stalybridge Celtic (by Gavin, T P and Tweety), who gained a 3-3 draw on the weekend at 8th placed Gainsborough Trinity. Gainsborough took the lead in the 4th minute but twice played catch-up after that, with the equaliser in the 90th minute. In 7th and tipped by FootballMan are the NPP play-off champions Gateshead, who didn't play this weekend. Level on points with Gainsborough but with a worse goal difference are Droylesden (4 games in hand) and the financially challenged Stafford Rangers, tipped by Jon M and mnewz. Steve Bull's men lost 1-0 at home to Vauxhall Motors this weekend. The other tipped side, Kings Lynn, are only 1 point further back in mid-table and managed to get in a 1-1 draw in Workington on their longest trip of the season. Crowds have struggled in this division, down 24% on last season, with Kings Lynn's average being down despite being promoted.

On the club front, 2 wins for Brackley Town moved them out of the SLP releagtion spots and Boston United were able to escape the NPP spots with a timely 2-1 win at Witton Albion, who remain in the bottom 4. AFC Totton moved top of S1SW with 4 points this week, but only 1 point separates the top 4 there. Despite a creditable 2-2 with 2nd placed Carshalton, Margate were overtaken in 18th spot by a surprising 3-0 win for Harrow Borough over top placed Dover.

In the FA Vase, VCD Athletic have a replay whilst Whitley Bay and Wimborne's games were postponed. Frome Town (Gray) and Winterton Rangers (Jamesie) bowed out at Bideford and Glossop NE respectively. Next weekend sees a FA Trophy game between tipped sides: Histon (Gavin, modelhobbies,Tweety) v Cambridge Utd (myself, howaythebay) - should be interesting!

See-saw man Bomaya is back to being the biggest mover with a gain of 9 (up from 27th to 14th), thanks largely to AFC Totton. DarrenLovell gained 7, whilst Bendrix and MadMick gained 6 each. Slipping up were HarryC (-7, down 25th to 34th) and Vienna, davyc and spgrey (-5).

Overall, PatB (73) regained top spot despite an even week as Tweety slipped 2 points (72). Those 2 are well clear of a pack of 7, led by MadMick (59). Down at the foot, East Fork Utd lost a further 3 points (14) and Sarumio slipped to 2nd bottom (29), with Jon M reappearing in 3rd last (30). Perhaps Sarumio's lack of a FA Cup pick could prove costly?

The Favourites gained 5 points this week and sit in 13th (48)!

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

In the FA Trophy, almost half the ties were postponed, but it was enough to see Cambridge Utd squeeze past Histon (Gavin, modelhobbies, Tweety), 3-2 away. None of the the other tipped sides lost and only Rushden have a replay (vs Newport County). VCD Athletic (Darren Lovell) won their Vase replay 4-0 against Frimley Green of the Combined Counties 1st division.

The biggest changes this week came in Isthmian 1 South, but I have already highlighted that division, so instead I am going to focus on the Isthmian Premier. The most popular pick (9) are Staines Town, who remain in 3rd this week having not played this week. Leading the table are the promoted Dover Athletic (Gavin,MadMick,Harryc, PatB, StokePriorAndy, SparkyRebel), who picked up 6 points from home wins over Harlow Town and fellow promotees Dartford (mid-table), who are the 2nd most popular pick (8). 2nd are the untipped Carshalton Athletic, who also did not play. Tonbridge Angels (FootballMan) picked up a useful 2-0 win at Harlow Town to move them up to 4th, displacing Canvey Island (spgrey and tjathome) who lost 1-0 at home to Maidstone United (Gray). Other tipped sides AFC Hornchurch (Hawkwind, tomschman, howaythebay) and Boreham Wood (fishy) played in midweek and Boreham Wood came away with a 4-1 win, but are still outside the top 8. Ramsgate (East Fork Utd, Felix)are currently in the bottom 4, along with Margate (Zebedee), but got a good win on Saturday, 3-1 at home to Sutton United (Bendrix, JonM).

There is not so much change overall this week, due to incomplete fixtures in most leagues. So on the club side, the biggest movers were those taking advantage of that to move into the top 8 - Hemel Hempstead Town (SLP), Ashford Town and Worthing (IL1S). Woking slid into the relegation spots and Aveley slipped off top spot in IL1N. Gray was the biggest winner, with a 5 point and 7 place gain, with Zebedee 2nd with a gain of 4. HarryC was hit hardest, losing 7 points this week, with T P and Tweety losing 4 points each. Gavin dropped 6 places (15th to 21st) despite only losing 2 points.

PatB remains top with 72, followed by Tweety with 68 and DarrenLovell is back up to third with 57. At the foot, East Fork Utd (16) is still adrift, HarryC falls to 2nd last (his 1st appearance in the bottom 3) and Sarumio improves to 3rd last.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Firstly to wrap up the delayed / replayed FA comps. Top Vase tips (7) Whitley Bay squeaked through at Penrith 1-0 aet but Wimborne Town (TP) fell 3-1 at step 6 side Larkhall Athletic. In the Trophy, the only ones which haven't got through yet are Burton Albion (DarrenLovell, dayc, Zebedee), who face a replay at Farsley Celtic; and Eastbourne Borough (Felix) who went out 1-0 at Swindon Supermarine.

This week, I'll focus on NP1N. The most popular pick are Curzon Ashton, 5 points off the play-off spots after a 1-1 draw away at 3rd placed Ossett Albion (MadMick). Moving from 4th to top are FC Halifax Town (6 tips), 4-1 winners at Radcliffe Borough. Displaced at the top are Bamber Bridge (Tweety, fishy, Chrisby, Sandhurstbee, mnewz), whose game was postponed this weekend. In 4th, having the missed the chance to go top, are Lancaster City (Gray), who lost at home 3-1 to Colwyn Bay. Very well placed in 5th, 6 points behind them (but with 7 games in hand) are Durham City. Yesterday they conceded only their 6th League goal of the season, remaining unbeaten with a 4-1 win at home to Warrington Town - of course that does not include the 4 they had conceded in the abandoned home game with Mossley the other weekPirate. Also well placed are last year's play-off finalists, Skelmersdale United (6 tips), 4-2 winners at 2nd bottom Harrogate Railway (Darren Lovell), who moved above Newcastle Blue Star (howaythebay), after their 3-3 draw with 8th placed Clitheroe. Other tipped sides are Trafford (Gavin, HarryC, davyc), in 14th place after a 2-1 defeat at Garforth Town; and Chorley (Sarumio), 4th bottom and losers 3-1 at home at Wakefield.

Other club movers this week are Woking (HarryC), who moved out of the relegation spots with a 2-0 win at fellow strugglers Lewes; Margate (Zebedee) with a similar win at Harlow Town; and Fleet Town (10 tips), who slipped 3 places after a draw at Corinthian Casuals. That proved most beneficial for Zebedee (8pts, 20th to 9th); StokePriorAndy (7, despite having Fleet) and Jamesie (6). Those suffering most this week were Chrisby (-7, 8th to 18th) and Tweety (-5, still 2nd though), with several teams (including the Favourites) losing 3pts.

Overall that leaves PatB (70) 7 points clear at Christmas, followed by Tweety (63) and StokePriorAndy (60). East Fork Utd improved 3 this week to 19, but HarryC also improved 2 to 26 and Sarumio 2 to 29, overtaking JonM (28).

Merry Xmas to all! Smile

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

In the FA comps, top Conference side Burton Albion required penalties to get past Farsley Celtic. Three sides remain in the FA Cup, Forest Green Rovers (home to Derby County, MadMick), Kidderminster Harriers (away to Coventry, Zebedee, FootballMan) and Torquay United (home to Blackpool, Gavin, Bomaya, mnewz and tjathome).

This week, I'm focussing on SLP. Most tipped (9) are the demoted side Cambridge City, who this week moved up 1 place to 6th after a 3-1 win over lowly Hitchin Town. 2nd most tipped are Farnborough (8), who have been blazing a trail in the division and are still top, but this week suffered a 3-1 defeat at Hemel Hempstead Town (Zebedee, Doddy, East Fork Utd), which moved Hemel up to 4th. Up into 2nd are Merthyr Tydfil (Jamesie), 2-1 winners at Stourbridge. They displaced the untipped Swindon Supermarine who surprisingly drew 4-4 at home to 2nd bottom Banbury United. Slipping down to 5th are Halesowen Town (7 tips) after a 0-0 draw at Evesham United. Corby Town (SimonG) slipped down to 8th, with a 5-0 reverse at Brackley Town (Gavin, now 11th with games in hand). Gloucester City (FootballMan) lost their place in the top 8 after a 1-1 draw at Oxford City (JonM), who themselves have had some spells in the relegation spots but are currently 2 points clear. The other tipped side are Chippenham Town (Tweety, Bomaya, Tomschman, Sparkyrebel), 2-1 losers at Bashley and in 10th.

There weren't many significant moves up club-wise. The only team to improve by more than 2 points this week were Sittingbourne (East Fork Utd, spgrey), 2 wins taking them into 5th in Isthmian South. The only teams to lose more than 2 points this week were two slipping back into relegation spots - Woking and Margate. Overall, the Sittingbourne bounce helped East Fork Utd gain a welcome 7 points and spgrey 2nd best with +4. 3rd best was T P with a gain of 3 (up from 23rd to 19th). Slipping up were HarryC, Zebedee and Felix, all -4, whilst RRYFS fell from 19th to 24th.

Overall the top 3 remain the same, but Pat B lost 3 pts (67) whilst Tweety gained 2 to 65. StokePriorAndy remained steady on 60 in 3rd. The bottom saw changes though with East Fork Utd (26) moving up to 2nd last, ahead of HarryC (22). SimonG (27) slipped into 3rd last, his first time in the bottom 3.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

In the FA Cup, Torquay's victory over the 3 leagues higher Blackpool, coupled with a creditable but unsuccessful tie for Forest Green against Derby and Kidderminster's defeat at Coventry, gives Torquay the full FA Cup points. Those picking up the 10 points are Gavin, Bomaya, mnewz and tjathome.

This week I am focussing on Conference National. Most tipped are Torquay (13), who suffered a 1-0 reverse at home to fellow contenders Kidderminster (untipped); and slipped from 2nd to 5th. Blazing a trail are Burton Albion (East Fork Utd), who picked up away wins at both Mansfield Town and York City (Gray) and are now 13 points clear. York had a poor week, also losing at home to Altrincham and sit in 16th, 3 points above the drop zone. 6th placed Cambridge United (Felix, FootballMan) drew 1-1 at home to Stevenage Borough (TP, DarrenLovell, RRYFS, Northstandexile, fishy, Hawkwind), who also won 3-0 at home to Lewes and drew 1-1 at Rushden (tjathome), to move ahead of them into 8th place. In 7th place with games in hand are Wrexham, who drew 1-1 at home to relegation placed Woking (HarryC). Woking also got a decent draw at 3rd placed Crawley Town (untipped). Also untipped are Histon, who won 4-1 at Grays and have games in hand on Burton. 2nd most tipped (7), but outside the points places in 11th are Oxford United, who seem to be experiencing the new manage bounce with victories over Salisbury City and Ebbsfleet United (Bomaya). Ebbsfleet also lost 3-1 at Grays, and sit in 15th.

Other significant moves club-wise are a win & draw for Bradford Park Avenue, moving them up to 4th; a win for Windsor & Eton whilst AFC Totton could only draw, to take them top of SL1SW; a point at Tonbridge Angels to move Ramsgate out of the relegation spots in ILP; a 2-2 draw for Witham Town at Concord Rangers which moved them above Waltham Forest and put them in a relegation spot instead; and a 3-2 win for Fleet Town at Walton Casuals which moved back into the last IL1S play-off spot.

The biggest gain this week was a meteoric rise of East Fork Utd, with +9 (Ramsgate,Windsor&Eton), followed by Vienna1964, HarryC and mnewz (+7). Those suffering this week were Zebedee (-6, Torquay Lge and Kiddie in Cup), MadMick and Bendrix (-4). Overall, PatB's lead is up to 10, as he gained 5 (72) whilst Tweety, still 2nd, lost 3(62), whilst StokePriorAndy is 3rd for the 3rd week running. Down at the foot it's tight with JonM slipping into last (29), tied on points with HarryC, with tomschman just ahead on 30.

I have added a monthly measure. This isn't a pure figure, it is generated as the difference between the first result of the next month minus the first total for the month in question (eg. the December figure is the Jan 3 figure minus the Dec 7 figure). Impure I know,Crazy but consistently applied. December's champions are East Fork Utd, followed by spgrey and Jamesie.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Only a handful of games in the last week:

Boston United 0-1 FC United of Manchester
Loughborough Dynamo 2-1 Goole
FC Halifax Town 1-1 Radcliffe Borough
Woodley Sports 2-0 Rossendale United
Halesowen Town 2-0 Bashley

EDIT: there were also 3 FA Trophy games, Burton Albion defeating Salisbury City (Gray) and Torquay defeating Rushden & Diamonds (JonM), whilst Durham City and Southport need a replay.

The only changes are in SLP, where Halesowen Town moved up from 5th to 2nd; and NP1S, where Loughborough Dynamo move ahead of Rushall Olympic to 8th.

Those who tipped Halesowen Town are this weeks biggest movers - modelhobbies, MadMick, davyc, PatB, SandhurstBee, Felix and howaythebay. No-one lost more than 1 point - that affected Jamesie, Zebedee, Doody, EastForkUtd and FootballMan.

There is no change in positions at the top or bottom.

There will be no update until Monday evening next week.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This week saw the 4th round of the FA Vase, with several FA Trophy games too, deferred from the previous week.

Key Trophy ties were Oxford Utd (Vienna1964, East Fork Utd, Bomaya, FootballMan) 1-2 York City (Tomschman), Cambridge Utd (me, howaythebay) 0-5 Crawley Town.

In the Vase, there were exits for tipped sides Scarborough Athletic (Sarumio), VCD Athletic (DarrenLovell), VTFC (chrisby) and Witney United (JonM); whilst Needham Market and holders AFC Fylde will replay next weekend.

Club changes saw their largest movement for a while, so I won't look into a particular division. Waltham Forest moved out of the IL1N relegation spots with a surprise 2-0 win away at previously top Aveley, with East Thurrock United moving up with 2 wins to replace them. In NPP, Leigh Genesis slipped into them, losing 0-4 at home to Eastwood Town, whilst Durham City won 5-0 away at Bamber Bridge in NP1N to move into 2nd, still unbeaten. In the SLP, Hemel Hempstead lost at home to Corby Town and slipped 3 places as a result. In IL1S, Ashford Town and Worthing both moved up 3 places.

As a result, FootballMan gained 11 points (through several tips improving), followed by Bendrix (+10) and TP and SparkyRebel (+7 each). Worst affected were SimonG (-8, largely due to Leigh), followed by Vienna1964 and East Fork Utd (-6 each).

Overall the top 3 remain the same, Pat B leading the way (73), followed by Tweety (63) and StokePriorAndy (62). At the foot, SimonG's poor week saw him slip into last place (25), with HarryC (26) remaining in 2nd last and East Fork Utd slipping back into the bottom 3 (28).

In Reply To
Woo-hoo, near the top end of mediocrity. I feel very proud Tongue

top end, eh? Not for long, I'm afraid...

This week, I'm going to look more in depth at Conference National. Blazing a trail are Burton Albion (East Fork Utd), surprisingly held 1-1 at home yesterday by Altrincham. Most popular tip are Torquay (13), who were on FA Cup duty yesterday and as a result slipped to 4th.

Untipped Histon remain 2nd, having had a week off. Stevenage Borough (6 tips), moved into their highest place of the season, 3rd, with a 4-2 win at struggling Salisbury City. That defeat, coupled with wins for Woking (HarryC) over lower mid-table Ebbsfleet Utd (Bomaya) and Barrow over 6th placed Kidderminster, pushed Salisbury into the relegation spots for the 1st time this season.

Cambridge Utd (Felix,FootballMan) slipped to 5th after () losing 2-0 at Wrexham (Vienna1964, SimonG,spgrey) in the Thursday game. Wrexham remain in 7th but with games in hand....

The battle of points deductees finished with Oxford Utd (7 tips) winning 1-0 over Crawley Town and with a midweek win over Forest Green too, Oxford (9th) have made light work of overcoming that deduction. Rushden (tjathome) could only draw 2-2 with Forest Green yesterday and are in 10th, whilst the other tipped side, 17th placed York City (Gray) will be looking over their shoulder at the relegation pack after losing 2-1 at Eastbourne Borough.

Other key club moves were:
Bath City's 1st appearance in the top 8 in Conf Sth
Eastwood's 2-0 win over Bradford PA and Hednesford losing 2-1 at home Marine saw top place and several top 8 changes in NPP
Witton's 2-1 win over FC United Frowntaking them out of the relegation spots in NPP
Ossett Albion moving up to 2nd in NP1N after a 1-0 win over Bamber Bridge
Two wins for Gloucester City in SLP saw them move into 6th, whilst Cambridge City slip to 8th after a 0-0 at Corby Town
All change at the top of SL1SW with AFC Totton back on top after 2 home wins, whilst Windsor & Eton lose 3-2 at Slough Town
Dartford move up to 6th in ILP with a 3-0 win at Horsham
Aveley go top again in IL1N after a 2-1 win at Ware, overtaking East Thurrock Utd, who drew at Wingate & Finchley
A midweek win at Met Police, and a 2-2 draw at home to Sittingbourne sees Fleet Town up to 3rd in IL1S

That saw an 11 point gain for Doody (Witton,Fleet), 10 points for RRYFS(Stevenage,Dartford,Fleet) and 8 points for MadMick. It was poor week for me (-7, BPA,Cambridge C, E Thurrock)Blush and spgrey (-7 also, BPA and Cambridge C), with Bendrix and East Fork Utd losing 6 each.

Overall, Pat B remains well clear (73), but Tweety dropped out of the top 3 for the 1st time since mid-October, replaced in 2nd by DarrenLovell (64). StokePriorAndy remained 3rd in 61. At the foot, East Fork Utd moved back to the bottom (22), behind HarryC (29) and tomschman (31), with a good week for SimonG moving him up to 4th last (31).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This week, I'm going to focus on NPP...

Most popular pick (12) are Boston United, who drew 1-1 with last year's play-off losers Buxton (Chrisby, EastForkUtd) yesterday. Home form has been Boston's particular problem, but 2009 has been better for them so far, even though they are only 1 point ahead of the relegation spots. Buxton are 2 points further ahead. Also at the foot, Leigh Genesis (Zebedee,SimonG,tjathome) lost 1-2 at home to Worksop, their 8th consecutive defeat (in all comps) and are bottom but with games in hand. The Worksop victory, coupled with a hard fought 2-1 defeat at untipped top-of-the-table Eastwood Town, pushed last year's runners up, Witton Albion (TP, Doody, Felix) back into the relegation spots. Last year's relegation battle had half the table involved until the final week and it looks like the same could happen this year. In the bottom half, but above the releagtion spots, Whitby Town lost 0-3 at home to Cammell Laird (Bomaya), who are now 5 points above the drop zone. At the top, Hednesford (modelhobbies, fishy) were involved in the FA Trophy, so Eastwood have moved 4 points clear. Untipped North Ferriby United won 5-0 to move 3rd, with Nantwich Town 4th after a 2-2 draw with Frickley Athletic and a midweek win at Kendal Town. Up into 5th and scoring points for the first time are FC United Cool (northstandexile,Jamesie,Sarumio,Tomschman, sparkyrebel), after a 2-0 midweek win at Leigh and a 2-1 Saturday win over Guiseley (both goals in the last 3 minutes). Untipped Ilkeston Town moved into 6th with a 2-1 win over Ashton United, whilst Bradford Park Avenue (7 tips) moved ahead of Marine (Tweety) with a 4-0 win there.

Other key results:
Stevenage 4-0 Burton Albion FAT
Southport 3-0 Torquay Utd FAT
Kidderminster 1-1 York City FAT
Kidderminster 2-0 Histon
Eastleigh 2-0 Bath City
AFC Wimbledon 3-1 Chelmsford City att 4690
Cambridge City 0-2 Farnborough
Farnborough 0-2 Oxford City
Chippenham Town 2-2 Gloucester City
Leamington 3-5 AFC Sudbury
Windsor & Eton 2-1 AFC Totton
Dartford 1-0 Maidstone Utd
East Thurrock Utd 7-0 Ware
Cray Wanderers 1-2 Met Police
Worthing 4-1 Kingstonian
Ossett Albion 0-1 Durham City
Lancaster City 3-3 Durham City
Sheffield 0-4 Glapwell

This week 2 tippers gained +8, Sarumio (AFC Wimbledon, FC United!) and myself (AFC Wimbledon,Bradford PA, Cambridge City), followed by Jamesie (+7, AFC Wimbledon, FC United). This week was a disaster for Felix (-13, Witton, Chelmsford, Cray). High fliers DarrenLovell (Chelmsford,Cray) and Tweety (Marine) both lost 6 pts each.

Overall, PatB remains in 1st (71) with a 6 point lead over StokePriorAndy (65) and I move back into the top 3 for the first time since September (62). Tweety slips out of the top 10. East Fork Utd remains at the foot (21), with Gray (30) 2nd last and SimonG (34) 3rd last.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Not many games today, particularly in the Southern league, where the only game to surivive was AFC Totton v Truro City, with Truro winning 2-0 in front of the largest crowd of the season (626).

Nothing survived in NP1S or IL1N, but in those that survived elsewhere:
Cammell Laird defeated league leaders Eastwood 1-0;
Leigh had a healthy 341 crowd (not sure how many stewards this time....Pirate)at home to Hednesford but still lost 1-3;
Nantwich won 3-0 at home to FC UnitedMad;
Durham City beat Bamber Bridge to close in on Halifax in NP1N
Lancaster City moved into 3rd with a win at home to Rossendale Utd;
Staines cemented 2nd spot in ILP with a 3-1 win over fellow contenders Sutton United;
Canvey Island won 3-1 to move back into the top 8 at the expense of AFC Hornchurch
Met Police moved into 2nd in IL1S with a 2-1 win over Folkestone Invicta;
Cambridge Utd and Oxford Utd moved up / into the points places last Sunday;
Wrexham moved into the playoff spots with a 2-0 win at Lewes;
Tamworth lost 0-1 at home to AFC Telford Utd;
Eastleigh beat Chelmsford City 2-1 to move into 3rd in Conf Sth

Overall, that gave spgrey a gain of +5 (Wrexham, Canvey Island), mnewz +4 and Vienna, Gray, Felix and tjathome +3. MadMick slipped the most (-5, Torquay, Ossett A), whilst TP, Zebedee, Doody and tomschman lost 4 pts each.

Net result is PatB still leads the way (69), Jamesie moves in to 2nd, level with StokePriorAndy (63). At the foot, East Fork Utd is still there (20), but Zebedee slips into 2nd last (30) and tomschman (31) 3rd last.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Bit busy this weekend, so it's just the results...Blush

Key changes:
Lowestoft coming from 2 goals down with 9 minutes to go to faorce extra time and eventually beat Hungerford Town in the Vase
Gateshead move top of Conf Nth with a win at Burscough (still without a home League win this season)
Witton move out of the NPP drop zone with a win over Buxton, dropping Boston Utd (game off) into it
Truro and Windsor & Eton move above AFC Totton in SL1SW after the latter's loss at Gosport Borough
Met Police drew 2-2 with Kingstonian, allowing Cray wanderers, with 2 wins to move level on pts with Kingstonian in 2nd
We won't talk about FCUM's resultBlush

Zebedee (36th to 27th) and TP (21st to 9th) both gained 11, with Doody gaining 9. Slipping up were SandhurstBee (-9, 15th to 31st!), followed by MadMick (-8, 12th to 25th) and RRYFS and JonM (-7).

Overall, PatB still leads the way (71), but Jamesie has closed the gap to a mere 4 points (67), with SparkyRevel in 3rd (65) with a 5 point gap to 4 tippers on 60. At the foot, East Fork Utd (21) trails Gray (27) and HarryC (28).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This week, I am focussing on SL1M:

Most tipped are Leamington (13), who got back to winning ways this weekend at mid-table Romulus, after a recent wobble and midweek defeat at home to Aylesbury United (EastForkUtd). Leamington remain top, 12 points clear but having played more than the untipped Atherstone Town and Nuneaton Town (10), both of whom won twice, Nuneaton winning impressively at Aylesbury, who remain in 8th. In 4th and tipped by 7, are Chasetown, but they slipped up this weekend, losing at home to 6th placed Sutton Coldfield Town (modelhobbies, JonM), who have been gaining positions recently after an initially poor start. The remaining tipped sides are 11th placed AFC Sudbury (Bomaya,Tomschman), 2-1 losers at home to lowly Rothwell Town this weekend after a 1-0 defeat at 5th placed Marlow; and 14th placed Bromsgrove Rovers (HarryC), 2-0 winners at home to Dunstable Town.

Other key results:
York City and Stevenage Boro are into the FA Trophy semi finals.
Ebbsfleet and Wrexham face a replay after drawing 0-0.
Bognor Regis coming from behind to beat Chelmsford City
Bath City losing 1-0 at home to Hampton & Richmond
Eastwood Town winning 1-0 away at Hednesford to go 3 points clear with 3 games in hand in NPP
Durham City going 3 points clear in NP1N after a win themselves and FC Halifax Town going down 3-1 at Colwyn Bay
Retford United losing 3-2 at home to 2nd placed Belper Town in NP1S
Corby Town's win at Merthyr whilst Farnborough are held to a goalless draw at Gloucester City means Corby can go top of SLP if they win their games in hand
Two wins for Cambridge City move them up to 3rd in SLP, whilst Merthyr slip to 6th
Windsor & Eton's midweek win at Winchester took them back to the top of SL1SW
Only 1 point from 6 for Staines (at Harrow Borough and Maidstone) gives Dover a more secure lead in ILP
Margate's 3-1 win over Boreham Wood takes them out of the ILP relegation spots and drops Ramsgate back in.
Worthing losing a 21-match unbeaten run 1-0 at home to Sittingbourne

The favourites gained most this week, with 6 points, matched by Tomschman (York) and followed by Bendrix (5, Cambridge City). Those suffering were Jamesie (though Sheffield did win 7-0!) down 8 pts (Merthyr); Simon G (-5) and Vienna1964, DarrenLovell and spgrey (-4).

Overall Pat B still leads with 73, now followed by SparkyRebel (66) and myself (64). Bringing up the rear is still East Fork Utd (19), then Gray (24) and JonM (29).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

There's not so much movement to deal with this week, so I'll just mention some key results:

Ebbsfleet 3-1 Wrexham FA Trophy QF
Merthyr, Hemel and Halesowen pick up midweek and weekend points to move above Chippenham Town and Gloucester City
Chasetown 2-0 Leamington - Nuneaton & Atherstone will now overtake them if they win games in hand
Tonbridge A 1-0 Carshalton Ath
Hampton & Richmond pick up 6 pts to move clear in 2nd in Conf Sth whilst AFC Wimbledon draw at Havant & Waterlooville
Bradford PA beat Hednesford 3-0 whilst Nantwich Town beat fellow play off / NPP title contenders North Ferriby United 4-0
Recovering draws for both NP1N top 2, Durham City at Trafford (from 3-1 down) and FC Halifax Town v Colwyn Bay (1-1)
Belper follow up their win over Retford by losing at home to Lincoln United
Truro City go top of SL1SW as Windsor & Eton lose at home to AFC Hayes
Margate replace Ramsgate in the relegation spots after losing 2-0 at Wealdstone whilst Ramsgate beat Billericay Town 1-0
Aveley pick up 1 pt from 6 from 2 home games, with East Thurrock and Brentwood closing the gap
Cray Wanderers beat Worthing 2-1 whilst Merstham beat Kingstonian 2-0 at the top of IL1S
Lowestoft move into the FA Vase semi whilst Whitley Bay beat Biggleswade Tn 5-2

Overall, the biggest movers are Doody (+10, Hemel, Truro, WhitleyBay) with StokePriorAndy (Truro, Lowestoft) and howaythebay (think you can guess!Wink) up 7 each. Few tippers lost points this week, but Sarumio bucked the trend, down 5, with Bomaya -3 and JonM and Tomschman -2 each.

The top 3 and bottom 3 remain the same - PatB (75) followed by SparkyRebel (71) and myself (69). At the foot, East Fork Utd gained 3 to 22, with Gray just ahead (24) and JonM slipping back (27). HarryC moved 7 points clear of that trio (34th with 34).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Just the end results this time, had a double header this weekend.

Histon 1-1 Cambridge Utd
Hampton & Richmond 0-1 Newport County
Tamworth 1-1 Southport
Chalfont St Peter (Zebedee) knock out Needham Market (PatB, SimonG) on pens in Fa Vase
Cambridge Utd 2-0 Burton Albion
Southport 2-3 Gateshead
Hampton & Richmond 2-1 Eastleigh
Durham City 1-1 Fc Halifax
Bamber Bridge 1-0 Curzon Ashton
Rushall Olympic 2-0 Stamford
Tonbridge Angels 0-1 AFC Hornchurch
Thamesmead 2-3 East Thurrock Utd (from 2 down)
Kingstonian 0-1 Corinthian Casuals
Farbnborough 1-1 Halesowen Town
Beaconsfield SYCOB 2-0 Truro City

Most tipping scores dropped this week - most down was mnewz (-10, Truro, Aveley and Kingstonian); followed by the favourites (-8) and PatB! (-8). Only 10 tippers improved, topped by East Fork Utd (+8, Windsor, Hemel, Sittingbourne), followed by Zebedee (+6) and Bomaya, Tomschman (+5).

That left a change in leadership for the first time since the end of November! SparkyRebel takes over (70), with PatB dropping to 2nd (67), with myself remaining in 3rd (65). At the foot, all the bottom 3 sides gained points, but the order changed - East Fork Utd moved up to 3rd last (30), with JonM now 2nd from bottom (29), and Gray slipping to last (25).

Tables are as per today's NLP.

Re: [Pat B] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Well, Pat B was right, and it only took a week! Upwards moves for Torquay Utd, Halesowen Tn, Truro City and Fleet Town gained 9 points for PatB (76), enough to overtake SparkyRebel (73), who whilst gaining with some of the same tips, suffered from Chippenham Town slipping down to 7th. I remain in 3rd (70).

SLP saw a number of key games and the close table showed several changes from last week. In midweek, the top 2, Farnborough and Corby Town both scored victories, as did Gloucester City, but Chippenham lost at home to Oxford City. The weekend saw those 4 play each other though and Chippenham improved with a 1-1 draw with leaders Farnborough, whilst 2nd placed Corby Town lost 2-1 at home to Gloucester City. Elsewhere, Cambridge City won a key midweek tie with Hemel Hempstead but lost 1-0 at home to bottom placed Clevedon Town. Halesowen Town moved up into 3rd with 2 wins over struggling opposition.

The SLSW leadership merry-go-round continued with Windsor & Eton starting the week in the lead but overtaken by Truro City beating Cinderford Town 3-2 on Tuesday, then AFC Totton winning 1-0 at Taunton Town on Wednesday. AFC Totton could only draw 0-0 at Andover on the weekend though, but Windsor & Eton missed their opportunity by losing 3-1 at Cirencester Town. Truro did not, though, winning 3-2 again, this time over Uxbridge to move back to the top. The untipped Beaconsfield SYCOB stay 4th but still in close contention.

Other moves this week were Newcastle Blue Star, picking up 7 points from 3 games; Harlow Town and Hastings United wins coupled with a Ramsgate defeat at Hendon put Ramsgate back in the ILP drop zone. Tomschman's York City FA Trophy tip is looking like paying more rewards after they took a 2-0 first leg lead at AFC Telford, whilst the Stevenage & Ebbsfleet tie is in the balance.

Howaythebay had the best week, gaining an impressive 12 points (pretty much the same gains at PatB but also Newcastle Blue Star), followed by Pat B and Football Man. FootballMan did not gain from any of the same as PatB/Howaythebay - picking up points from Skelmersdale, Rushall, Gloucester, Paulton and Ashford Town. The only one to suffer this week badly was someone who could ill afford it - East Fork Utd, down 10 pts (Ramsgate, Hemel, Windsor), as Tweety lost 4 pts and several lost 3 pts (fishy, hawkwind, Sarumio, Bomaya and mnewz).

The top has already been covered - East Fork Utd returned to the foot (20), with Gray up to 2nd last (24) and JonM 3rd last (27).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

I haven't covered IL1N yet, so...

The most popular pick are Ware (12), but they had a poor week losing 3-1 at home to mid-table Enfield Town (Sarumio,StokePriorAndy) midweek and 1-0 away at lowly Potters Bar yesterday, remaining 8th but having played more than those around them. The 2nd most popular picks both played relegation threatened Waltham Forest (tjathome), Redbridge surprisingly losing away 1-0 in midweek, whilst Chatham Town (modelhobbies,RRYFS,Northstandexile,HarryC) are safe already and scored a 3-0 home win. 9th placed Redbridge (Bendrix,SimonG,SandhurstBee,Felix) recovered with a 1-0 win at lowly Ilford. At the top, Aveley (mnewz) scored a key win midweek over 6th placed Concord Rangers and followed it up with a win over Enfield Town. East Thurrock (me,Zebedee,SparkyRebel) posted a midweek win over Maldon Town, but lost at home to 3rd placed Brentwood Town (Vienna1964, DarrenLovell, MadMick), allowing Aveley to overtake them. Maldon Town (Gray,EastForkUtd,tomschman) also lost yesterday to 4th placed Waltham Abbey. Concord Rangers (Jamesie, howaythebay) recovered to score an important win at 5th placed Northwood and remain well in contention for a playoff spot. That just leaves Cheshunt (fishy) of the tipped sides. Currently 10th after a win over relegation threatened Witham Town, they won't make the playoffs, but might yet score a point or two.

Other key moves:
Stevenage (MadMick,PatB,Chrisby,Doody,StokePriorAndy,Favourites) and York (tomschman) will meet in the FA Trophy final after wins over Ebbsfleet and AFC Telford
Barrow's win over Lewes coupled with a defeat to Kiddie sends Woking (HarryC) back into the Conference relegation spots
Gateshead's win over Stalybridge leaves the top 3 in Conf Nth well clear
Hampton & Richmond defeat Chelmsford 4-1 to bring them closer to AFC Wimbledon, surprise losers at home to Welling
A win for Boston United (12) over Marine moves them out of the NPP relegation spots - and puts Cammell Laird (Bomaya) into them.
Newcastle Blue Star's 3-0 win over AFC Halifax takes them 2nd in NP1N, whilst Skelmersdale's win over Colwyn Bay takes them 3rd
Gloucester City's excellent run continues with a win over Cambridge City to take them 3rd in SLP
Midweek draws for Atherstone and Nuneaton strengthen Leamington's hold on SL1M again
Fleet Town score wins over fellow contenders Kingstonian and Ashford Town to go 2nd in IL1S

MadMick gained the most this week (+11), with the favourites gaining 10, and RRYFS and Doody (+9). Losing out were Bomaya (-5), Jamesie (-4) and fishy, spgrey and tjathome (-3).

Overall that leaves Pat B clear (81) with StokePriorAndy (73) moving into 2nd and SparkyRebel 3rd (72). At the foot, East Fork Utd (21) and Gray (29) stay in the bottom 2, but JonM moves out to 33rd (34) putting HarryC (31) back in the bottom 3.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

I am having a lot of trouble getting onto the main site, so this week it's just the file and overall positions.

Jamesie is the biggest winner this week, gaining 5 (4 teams rising by 1 or 2, including FCUM Cool), with Gray, Sarumio and mnewz all up 3. Slipping up are Bomaya (-7, due to Ebbsfleet in relegation spots), Tweety (-4) and howaythebay (-4).

Overall the top 3 are the same - PatB still leads (79, down 2) but StokePriorAndy closed the gap (75, up 2) with SparkyRebel staying steady 3rd (72, no change). Down at the foot, it's the same 3 too, with East Fork Utd (20) bringing up the rear and Gary and HarryC on 32 pts.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

The last division to look at is NP1S.

Most popular pick are Sheffield (11), but they will not be contesting the playoffs this season, after losing 1-0 to Lincoln United, but had a good win at Glapwell in midweek. 2nd most popular are last season's champions, Retford United (9), who drew 0-0 at Willenhall this weekend. Drawing close to them are the untipped Belper Town, 4 pts behind with 2 games in hand after a midweek win v Willenhall Town and a Saturday win at Stamford. In 3rd are Stocksbridge PS (Tweety, SandhurstBee) , 8-0 winners v Spalding, but losers at home to Rushall Olympic midweek, very likely condemning them to the playoffs. In 4th, Glapwell (modelhobbies, northstandexile) recovered from a midweek home defeat to Sheffield by winning 1-0 over mid-table Loughborough Dynamo (SimonG). 6th placed Rushall (FootballMan) did not follow up their win in their weekend game, losing 1-0 at home to Goole. 3rd most tipped were Grantham Town (Gavin, MadMick, Bendrix, spgrey, mnewz), but their season is already over in mid-table and lost 3-0 at home to Carlton Town. Also comfortably midweek are Leek Town (HarryC, tjathome), 2-0 winners at bottom placed Brigg Town (East Fork Utd). Brigg's only hope of escaping bottom place is to finish ahead of Gresley Rovers (DarrenLovell,Gray), who lost 2-1 at Quorn and will be thankful of their early season points.

Other key results:
Lowestoft Town 1-1 Whitley Bay, sending favourites Whitley Bay into the final v Glossop NE
Southport 0-1 Tamworth
Grays 1-0 York City puts York into the Conference relegation spots
Alfreton Town 2-0 Southport
Frickley 1-0 Buxton sends Buxton into the NPP relegation spots in place of Matlock, who beat Marine 4-0
Curzon Ashton beat Newcastle Blue Star, Durham City and Lancaster City (a) all in 1 week to move into a playoff spot
Skelmersdale 2-1 FC Halifax Town dumps Halifax out of the playoff spots and put Skem in 2nd

Rest to follow tomorrow

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Other key results:

Aveley 1-3 Brentwood Town and East Thurrock 1-1 Concord Rangers puts East Thurrock back on top of IL1N.
2 wins for Kingstonian put them top of IL1S
Cambridge City win 2-1 over Gloucester City and 2-1 at Tiverton
Corby slip up midweek drawing at Evesham, but win 5-0 over Halesowen yesterday
Two defeats for Hemel and Gloucester
Nuneaton 2-2 Atherstone in midweek, both winning on the weekend

So for this weekOverall, the biggest gains were for SparkyRebel (+10, Curzon, E Thurrock), Gavin (7,Kingstonian, WhitleyBay) and the Favourites. SparkyRebel would have been even better off had Lowestoft beaten Whitley bay to get into the FA Vase final. Chrisby suffered the most (-8, Buxton), followed by Gray (-6, YorkCity) and DarrenLovell, SandhurstBee and JonM (-3).

Overall, the 10 point gain for SparkyRebel was enough to take him back to the top (82), with PatB now 2nd (80) and myself in 3rd (76). Down at the foot, East Fork Utd is still dead last (19), Gray (26) and JonM slips back into the bottom 3 again (31).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Changes this week were more limited, but in Conference North, Tamworth are top, but then lost at home to Stafford on Saturday. Alfreton's storming run has now taken them past Telford and they look the form team for the playoffs. Oustide of there, the only major changes were teams escaping the relegation spots - Woking after winning 2-0 at Forest Green; Buxton after winning 4-1 v local rivals Matlock Town; and Cammell Laird also overcoming local rivals Marine 3-2.

Overall, HarryC (+6, Woking) and Chrisby (+5, Buxton) did best this week; modelhobbies and FootballMan both slipped up 3 points.

Overall, both the top 3 and bottom 3 are the same.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

This week I'm going to focus on what could still happen....

Teams which could go up or down by 4 points or more:
Southport (currently 3rd, can finish 5th to 1st, Vienna, Gray, RRYFS, HarryC, davyc, East Fork Utd, StokePriorAndy, spgrey, tomschman)
Cammell Laird (currently 16th, can finish 19th, Bomaya)
FC United (currently 3rd, can finish 8th to 3rd, Northstandexile, Jamesie, Sarumio, tomschman, SparkyRebel)
Hednesford Town (currently 8th, can finish 8th to 3rd, modelhobbies, fishy)
Marine (currently 14th, can finish 19th, Tweety)
Witton Albion (currently 19th, can finish 14th, TP, Doody, Felix)
Boreham Wood (currently 18th, can finish 19th, fishy)
Margate (currently 19th, can finish 16th, Zebedee)
Worthing (currently 5th, can finish 5th to 2nd, Gray, Bendrix)

At the top, SparkyRebel is 6 points clear (83) of myself and Pat B (77 each). Given the possibilities left, the worst Sparky can do is 61 points - but actually he has more at risk than Pat B or myself, who will finish with at least 62. Comparing the top 3, we all have Torquay, Telford, Curzon and Truro. Key battlegrounds in the title race will be NPP, where 3rd to 8th are only 2 points apart. Sparky has FC United, whilst Pat B and I went for BPA. One I would be happy for BPA to lose though as the teams play each other next Saturday!; NP1S where Sparky and PatB have Retford United, who could yet be overtaken by Belper Town (my tip was Sheffield); SLP where Chippenham (Sparky) are vulnerable to a 3 point penalty but otherwise could make the playoffs, Halesowen (PatB) can't make the playoffs but could advance back to 6th whilst for me it is only how Cambridge City do in the playoffs; IL1N where top placed East Thurrock (Sparky, myself) host 2nd placed Aveley who are 2 points behind - PatB's tip was Ware; the FA Trophy final (PatB has Stevenage); and final positions and playoff performance for Fleet Town (PatB and myself) and Chasetown (Sparky).

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Please find attached an updated table (previous scores will not show this interim update).

Chippenham's points deduction (and consequent rising of Halesowen) has seen a tightening at the top, with SparkyRebel now just 2 points clear of PatB and 3 ahead of me, with StokePriorAndy still within striking distance 8 back.

I have included the potential points for each team (excluding playoffs).

Alas, my computer is in for repair this weekend, so I will not be able to update again until at least MondayShocked.

Borrowed a docking station...

Most teams suffered a slump this week, with the largest gains being only 2 points. Tomschman suffered most, down 10 pts, but SparkyRebel also lost 8. That reduces his lead (75) over PatB to a single point (74), with myself third with 71. JonM escapes the bottom 3 (30), with HarryC slipping in at an untimely moment (27). EastForkUtd's wooden spoon (22) was sealed on the weekend with Gray (26) also having one of the same playoff competitors (Southport).

I have made a change on the score details page - yellow is now for teams in the playoffs and there is a count of potential points which could be gained (3 for FA comp winners, 1 for playoff final winners), which is also on the current score table. Teams will not lose points from here on.

Obviously, when you gain points, others may do also, so whilst Doody may be able to get more points than Sparky Rebel currently has, to do so would mean PatB also gains enough to go past Doody's highest potential total. But there are still a few outside the top 3 in with a shout.

EDIT: Checking back, JonM's rules said demoted / folds were due -5 points. Clearly this needs a cutoff date - I am taking Conf playoff final date - but was this also intended to apply to failed ground grading and voluntary relegation? The latter affects the wooden spoon actually, as Gray has Gresley Rovers. None of the teams at the top are affected. Please comment if you have an opinion.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or

My suggestion is that teams folding or taking voluntary demotion at the end of the season (i.e. not having results expunged from the records) should be simply counted for game purposes in the actual positions in which they finish.

Those affected by mid-season expungements should certainly get those '-5's !

I APOLOGISE UNRESERVEDLY TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON ON THIS FORUM WHO HAS FELT LET-DOWN BY MY INIMICABLE AND DEPLORABLE BEHAVIOUR OF OCTOBER 28th. 2009. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT A PRIVATE PERSONAL APOLOGY WAS SENT, BUT WAS SEEN INSUFFICIENT. FAIR ENOUGH.

Can I add to that: I think that teams which are currently on -5 for being relegated, and are then reprieved, should remain on -5. i.e. Brigg.

No question on that, TP. JonM's rules stated that any reprieved team still got -5. I am proposing to follow Vienna's suggestion re voluntary and ground demotions.

Wooden spoons aren't so bad...I cook with them all the time! I have to admit that I frequently visit oftenscore6's post just after the Christmas and New Year's holiday where "meteoric rise" was linked to my screen name--ah, heady days, indeed. Does this mean that I get relegated to predicting British prep school games next year, or can I still "run with the big dogs"? When the outcome of this season was looking more concrete, the demon Mad in me was hoping some players ahead of me would go into administration so as to save myself! A couple of cups of coffee and a good smoke helped clear my head of that thought Angelic though. Thanks again to oftenscore6 for keeping tabs on the season and the other competitors for playing. Hope to do it again for the 09-10 season.

Re: [vienna1964] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

I've done an attachment including all results to date - Histon v Torquay being played as I write.

4 tipsters have gained 3 points as a result of playoff wins - TP (Nuneaton, Didcot & Staines); Darren Lovell (Nuneaton, Staines & Cray); and Tweety and SandhurstBee (Stocksbridge, Didcot & Staines).

As a result, the bottom 6 positions will not change further, irrespective of remaining games. But reprieves are hereby issued to HarryC, Gray and East Fork Utd! Wink

At the top, the race is down to 2 as I am unable to catch Pat B and SparkyRebel. Actually, because of the selections they have, the championship title will come down to one game - the FA Trophy final. If Stevenage win, the extra 3 points for FA Trophy winners will see PatB take the title, whilst a York City win see SparkyRebel triumph.

Doody, Favourites and FootballMan all have 4 selections left - FootballMan's being generally less popular, with Cambridge, Gateshead and Hampton plus Whitley Bay. However, with all the teams immediately above having Whitley Bay, FootballMan can only surpass howaythebay into 8th.

As I have been doing all season, if two teams are level, then the one submitted first is placed higher.

I am opening another thread for comments / possible improvements for 2009/10, which I am happy to run again.

Re: [oftenscore6] Non League Champions League 2008/9 scores or Reply Privately

Stevenage's win over York gave Pat B (78) the title of Non-League Champions league winner 2009. Well done PatB!

PatB's selections were: Torquay, Telford, Chelsmford, Bradford PA, Curzon, Retford, Halesowen, Leamington, Truro, Dover, Ware, Fleet Town, Stevenage, Needham Market, Burton Albion.

SparkyRebel (76) kept 2nd place, with StokePriorAndy (74) picking up 3rd. Actually the Favourites picked up 4th (74) with myself slipping to 5th (73).

Overall in the playoff season, Doody and the Favourites both picked up 8 (Stevenage, Whitley Bay, Torquay, Staines), with FootballMan and tomschman also gained 6 each.

The bottom places were unaffected by the playoffs.

Hope you enoyed the comp this year, predictions will open again in July for next season!

Thanks for running this, excellent and dedicated piece of work. For two weeks in February I thought I even had a chance, but well done to Pat, shows that the bloke knows his non-league footy.

Just a note to anyone who is wondering, I am no longer a moderator of this forum due to current personal circumstances and work commitments. If you need help, contact leohoenig or Steve walker. Thank You.
